Review
Reviewed by Lit Amri for Readers' Favorite:The First is certainly a refreshing concept regarding a female protagonist as the first actual superhuman. I am a fan of strong female characters, so to have Sophia Dennison as a female superhuman is a delight. Ewers definitely gives a freshness and visceral vibrancy to his female lead. The storyline is interesting and adrenaline-pumping, as if I was reading a superhero comic book turn into an exciting supernatural thriller. The pace of the story is fast, which is an added bonus to plot.

Ewers also has a knack for vivid storytelling.

EVOLVE...OR...DIE...

From the Inside Flap
I would like to thank God Himself for giving me the gift of words and blessing me with the breath of life and longevity to make sure it did not go to waste.
I would like to acknowledge the two women who inspired this book.
First, my mom, Kimba Ewers, who held down a house of four men and gave a kid like me everything he could ever want. I can say I was born to the greatest mom ever. Thank you for loving me.
Last but never least is my wife, Jacquelin Franklin-Ewers. You are the epitome of "Behind every good man is a great woman." Thank you for giving me the privilege to share my life with yours.
Finally, I'd like to acknowledge all of the mothers, daughters, sisters, nieces, aunts, grandmothers, and women of the world. God may have made Eve from Adam's ribs, but women have proven they are also the backbone of the family, and of us men. Thank you for holding us down.

Terrible. More than editing and proofreading is needed.
By A. Bodmer
This book was written almost 2 years ago and still hasn't been edited to correct numerous mistakes in grammar, spelling, and just plain misunderstandings, such as when the author uses "IAD" instead of "IED".

This book is in the top 2000 paid in the Kindle store right now. People like myself are buying it and giving a new author a shot, only to keep getting pulled out of the flow of the story by frequent errors in the language. Surprisingly, so far, I'm liking it, but I'm not even 30 pages in and the rate of errors is so high I'm struggling to keep re-entering the story every few minutes instead of just quitting and opening one of the several dozen unread books in my kindle library, some of which are by my favorite authors.

I know reading negative reviews can be hard, but please take this and others with a similar message as constructive criticism. It may cost a bit to get a good edit done, but it's worth it to avoid reviews like this going up. Plus, readers will have a much improved experience of your work.

Update: I'm up to page 67 where a character just talked about people approaching the "parameter" of a base. There are numerous errors like this where the problem isn't just some excessive or misplaced commas, or spelling, or grammar, but using the wrong word altogether. I think I'm just about done, and downgrading from * * * to * *.

Update #2: Downgrading from * * to *. Interesting opening but ... beyond the previously mentioned problems, the characterization is awful, and eh just no. Find another book.

Not a bad start but some serious editing needs to be done...
By Amazon Customer
I like the whole superhero genre and this isn't a bad start at superhero worldbuilding. But for gods sake find a proofreader. I ran across far too many glaringly bad grammar mistakes. Whenever I'd run across a particularly bad bit, I'd put a note on the kindle. At the end I had over 50 notes. Hint number one... "with relative ease" not relative easy, that happened a few times. Glass patrician? Man, turn off whatever spell checker you're using, you'd be better off. Also, DC isn't really a state.
Despite the bad grammar, the characters weren't bad, and the story was good enough to make me finish.

interesting story
By Marlene stegmeier
Enormous amounts of typos and grammatical errors made reading difficult. Proof reading and editing obviously were not a priority in this effort.
