Jeanmarie Paolillo is a teacher, teacher trainer and mentor at Yoga Works in New York City. She leads trainings and workshops on asana, the philosophy of yoga, meditation and mindfulness, and the energetic body internationally. The fundamental purpose of yoga for Jeanmarie is learning to be present in the moment. She lives in the passionate belief that all things in life are possible and that manifestation requires an understanding that everything is the culmina- tion of our thoughts. A must-read!

I am a firm believer that people and opportunities come into our lives at the exact moment that we need them to in order to serve a purpose. Jeanmarie and the Vibeathon was exactly that for me! I'd been a member of the Yoga Works studios for 6+ years and I knew Jeanmarie in passing, but I had never ventured beyond the Pilates rooms into the Yoga studios until the last two years. As my body became more accustomed to and stronger in the Vinyasa 2/3 classes I started realizing that there was an entire element of precision that I was missing in the development of my poses and in my practice overall. I also started realizing that there was an entire mind-focused part of my practice that I hadn't even cracked the surface on that would bring me to a whole new level of connectedness and balance. These two things: Precision in my poses and the spiritual/mind-focused practice of yoga is what led me to Jeanmarie's door after about a year of practicing yoga. Little did I know that this "mindfulness" as we now call it was something that Jeanmarie had been creating, researching and honing for the past several years. I started working with her on a weekly basis. She truly is a humble expert. Not only does she lead and teach this idea of being mindful in her classes, but she's also a living example of what this kind of meditative awareness looks like in everyday life, which in NYC, is no easy task. This living example is how the Vibeathon was born.

About six months ago I had something occur in my life that really shook the foundations on which I had built much of my adult existence. To sum it up, I went through the stages of grief, but I also started questioning myself, my personal value and priorities and what I've always considered to be the elements of stability for my life. After allowing myself a weekend in bed, I did what every good yogi does...more yoga. I also became a student of the Vibeathon. I began working with Jeanmarie both in class and one on one developing tools using meditation and mindful awareness, first just to pull myself out of the dark place that I had fallen and then second, to begin to put together a new life plan. Feeling lost and overwhelmed was probably the most difficult part of going through this process and the tools that Jeanmarie gave me really helped to not only begin to find my way and put things into perspective, but also to find peace within the emotion and clarity for digging myself out of circumstances that felt largely out of my control. Finding that clarity and an understanding of my mental stuff that was holding me back was probably the most valuable and difficult part of this process for me. Once I had gone through several of the exercises and started incorporating a more mindful state of existence and a meditation routine; things started to become clearer and then I was finally ready to begin to develop my next steps. For the first time in months, I am seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm no longer feeling fragile and like I literally won't know what to expect emotionally and mentally from each day. I know that the tools from the Vibeathon have been paramount in helping me to see my way forward.

This is a treasure!

"Though I have done meditation in the past and even found a semi regular practice, this experience of having you lead me thru the process was and is remarkable. Your understanding of what to do and how, along with your down to earth language and writing skill allowed the process to seem simple. You gave me real life examples and offered clear instructions. Sure there is work to be done, sure I have to participate fully, but you were there in spirit to lead me all the way. You're very good at guiding me through the tough parts and allowing me to take my own time digesting the material and feel fully supported at each place of pause. This is a plan, a book, that I can continue to return to over and over again as I move along this path of discovery into my meditation practice. Thank you for this treasure."

Your book is amazeballs. I am not just saying this. I have never before felt so connected, so loving and so in turn with my own life and emotions then I have been feeling the past couple of days. Every morning I wake up and get my vibe on. It is the highlight of my day! And my days are AWESOME! Thank you for creating such a meaningful piece of work. It is truly incredible. I want to buy 10 copies so that I can share the amazingness with the world! Wow I just realized that I am not even halfway done and I already absolutely love this book. A quadrillion thanks!!!!!!!

Sarah Ashley Jones was raised in San Diego, California, but currently wrangles her husband and three dogs in Clarksville, Tennessee. When she's not writing she works in a pottery studio and comes home covered in paint on a daily basis. She has a slightly unhealthy obsession with cupcakes, chapstick, and all things Alice in Wonderland. She is an eternal optimist and can often be found dancing and singing to music at any given time. It's rare to see her not smiling or laughing, but if you do, just bring her a cupcake and it will cheer her up.

The books of the Promise Me Series is the first novels Sarah Ashley Jones ever sat down to write. The story weaseled into her heart and wouldn't leave her alone until she typed it all out. A sweet Southern girl and a hot rockabilly boy....LOVE!

Books set in the South make me happy. Especially when they're written by people who actually LIVE in the South. So many times I read books with Southern characters, and they are almost caricatures of how people 'think' Southerners act/speak. This book is set in sunny San Diego, but the main character Charlie is from good 'ole Tennessee. She has a twin brother - Cameron - who recently passed away, and her mother has designated her as the one who has to clean out his apartment. So Charlie travels to San Diego on a mission to clean out her brother's apartment and settle up any outstanding issues. She was just supposed to be there for a few days, a week MAX...but then she meets Jhett, who gets her to promise that she will try to live her life for herself instead of for her controlling parents. What could go wrong?
Charlie - I love her. She is vulnerable and unsure of herself, and yet has a spine that, until this point in her life, she's not had the gumption to use. San Diego brings out the badass in Charlie, and she begins to open herself up to experiences and people that she never could back home in TN. She is feisty and clumsy and makes me laugh out loud.
Jhett - WOW. Just, wow. Jhett has got to be one of my favorite all-time book boyfriends. He is dark and tattooed and snarky, and I think I love him. He introduces Charlie into the rockabilly world, with slicked back hair and 1950's rolled up jeans. He oozes sex and danger, yet he definitely has a soft underbelly.
Both main characters have a depth to them that makes you see them as real people, instead of fictional characters. It only took me a few pages before I was completely hooked into this book. My favorite secondary character was definitely the psycho-sweet Ginger, and I can only hope that we'll get to learn more about her in book 2...which seems like a foregone conclusion with that devastating cliffhanger!

Highly enjoyed it!

Thank you so much for Tess of My Pathway to Books and Sarah Ashley Jones for the eARC! As always, this in now way affected my views of the novel.

Promise Me This first came into my radar when I helped with its cover reveal. It won't win any awards in its originality but the simplicity and the tangible feeling and sense of love it emanates caught me and got me interested in this novel. And hey, musicians in my novels are more than welcome. You could say that's one of my guilty pleasures. So of course, when the chance to read an ARC for its release day launch presented, I grabbed it!

Charlie is the epitome of a Southern belle. The familial daughter to her overbearing and overprotective parents, she stayed in Tennessee for college because of them. Her brother, Cameron, however, rebelled and flew out of town to San Diego to go to college and live his life for himself. That is until he got into a car accident and subsequently died. (Subsequently? Really, Dianne? Someone died and you use 'subsequently'? You can't be more clinical-sounding and unemotional than that?) Charlie comes to San Diego to pack Cameron's apartment up and she meets Jhett, Cameron's tattooed best friend and the guitarist to the band that plays at Cameron's hangout place. Charlie gets to know more about Cameron's life back in San Diego and ultimately, gets to know Jhett as well. (More than know, actually.)

The characters in here were such a delight! Charlie wants more than being stuck in Tennessee, but she isn't as courageous as Cameron to have defied their parents. But upon continual interference of her mother and upon knowing Cameron's imminent plans to get her to San Diego from Jhett, she starts to decide for herself and stays in San Diego for the summer. (Of course Jhett planted that idea but she made the decision all on her own and in memory of Cameron.) She even buys a banana-yellow Jeep to complete her rebellion. It's obvious that Charlie's more like Cameron in so many ways except for she didn't dare follow Cameron then. So the turnaround from the Southern belle that she is was truly believable. Hannah, Charlie's bestfriend is the best friend all girls need to have. She's supportive yet she pushes Hannah to do things she wants to do but is too afraid to go through. Jhett, you tattooed tall and lanky yet kinda broad-shouldered guy! Make no mistake and don't judge a guy by his ink but Jhett is an ultranice guy. He might have girls in and out of his life before but that's it, they're just hook-ups. He hasn't broken someone's heart by leading them on. He's a guitarist in a band that exploded when he was young, touring all around the country. After his stint at that, he studied and graduated in a CULINARY SCHOOL. Jhett is a chef. A heavily tattooed chef. Who still plays sometimes in a band. He's such an irony that I love him just for it. Another character would be Ginger. I wouldn't reveal who she is but I just didn't like her as much. Okay, I get why she's swearing people off and burning bridges with everyone but I also didn't like some of the deeds she did and some of her decisions and reasoning. But I do get where she's coming from so I don't hate her.

As for the romance, it was sort of fast-paced in my opinion. I completely understand it though. Jhett, being bestfriends with Cameron, knew Charlie before he even met her. Cameron kept on telling stories about Charlie that Jhett felt like he already know Charlie. On the other hand, Charlie didn't even know Cameron had a best friend in Jhett before she met him. So her falling in love with Jhett was kind of fast but once again, I get it because they bonded over Cameron's death. And Jhett is so lovable especially when he treats Charlie as if she invented bacon. And blueberry cheesecakes. And spicy spaghetti and tattoo. There's nothing that can make you closer than experiencing the same misery. So while their relationship pretty much goes from nil to explosions, it was still believable. This is a contemporary new adult romance guys so you know how the scenes just bare it all. Needless to say, Promise Me This had steamy scenes and sizzling ones as well and sweet-as-caramel ones too. That seashell necklace? I just about squealed in a restaurant while eating lunch. Jhett is just too sweet and he cares for Charlie so much. So so much. Some might feel like their relationship had no grounds, that maybe this isn't really love but more like commiseration or having just that person around when you were in a pit. Maybe so but still, the romance was still palpable.

As for the plot, Promise Me This is mostly a romance novel. But it also delved into death, guilt, promises, fighting for what you want, following your dreams and living the life you want and not just existing. But be warned that apparently, Promise Me This will have a sequel! Damn that cliffhanger, Sarah! I hate you but I love you more for writing this. Am a proud member of #JhettMafia. I am eagerly awaiting for the continuation of Charlie and Jhett's love story.

With a hot romance as spicy as Jhett's Kill Ya Spaghetti and Meatballs and a plot that will put you in a rollercoaster ride of emotions, Promise Me This is a more-than-promising first book in this series. Sarah Ashley Jones, don't make me strangle you and release the sequel asap! (Kidding, I will never strangle you. More like spam you on Twitter.)

The Best

Most sketching tutorials basically show how the author sketches and then say (essentially), ".. now you go and do likewise". Scott's approach is different. He presents an extended tutorial on the art of seeing, which is the essential first ingredient of drawing. Through practice (a lot of it), the ability to sketch effectively falls out as a natural consequence. Scott doesn't so much teach you how to sketch, as he teaches you how to see and how to properly evaluate what you see, so that you can efficiently capture it in your sketch.

Good beginner book for sketching from observation

[[VIDEOID:mo1NERZ1XLV7PXC]]Sketching - from Square One ... to Trafalgar Square is an art instructional book on drawing written by Richard Scott, artist and architect.

It's a book meant for beginners for it teaches the fundamentals of drawings. It's also for those who want to draw from observation because it covers a lot on that as well. Much of the examples are subjects from urban settings, buildings, etc.

The book starts with lessons on proportions. Drawing from observation mostly comes down to observing proportions of the subject. So basically after these early lessons, you can get a good idea what's required to make a good sketch.

Later chapters cover more specific subjects such as simplifying your sketch, bringing out the emotion, using edges, getting the accuracy, practicing tones and contrast. There are lots of visual examples, step by step tutorials, and the writing is clear and brief.

Overall, it's a good book for beginner sketchers.

When the student is ready, the teacher will appear

I have a shelf full of how-to-sketch books, but none has ever addressed the roadblocks I've encountered as effectively as Scott's book. You are not going to find tons of wondrous new revelations about drawing here. Rather you will (finally!) get plenty of insight as to why you may have gotten off track and become convinced you could just not do this "sketching thing."

Could you not identify what to draw first? Were you trying to tackle too many aspects of the drawing at once? Did you completely lose sight of what attracted you to your subject in the first place? Did you forget that the experience of making any drawing is worth at least as much as the resultant rendering?

If you can see your own frustrations in any of these scenarios, GET THIS BOOK. Your teacher has appeared!

Magical! These incredible stories will leave you breathless!

Kerrigan Byrne is an amazingly brilliant paranormal romance writer. In this trilogy she tells of three beautiful sisters on quests to avenge their untimely and violent deaths, as Banshees. Their paths lead them to a handsome and tortured Scottish Clan Laird, an ancient magical Druid, and a powerful Nordic berserker.

Kerrigan's books literally transfix you and transport you to a time when such creature's existence was talked about in whispers. A time of great highland warriors, Norse Gods and Celtic tales of faeries. LOVE LOVE THESE BOOKS!

I truly enjoyed all three of these stories.
Wonderful stories about 3 sisters who each had a terrible end to over come everything for love! Each of these tales touched my heart, but I must admit, that Kylah and Daroch's story was my favorite. WOW!
Well written and well worth the read..... highly recommend........the are witty, romantic and HOT!!
These books are a must read!!!!! I have already recommended to all my friends

Some good, some great... then some never mind

The great writes surely compensate for the forgettable ones in this book. I'm sure I'll probably read a few of the poetry more than ones. Shawna Bernard's The Spider Box and Michael Randolph's Salvation stand out. The Spider Box has a very dreamy/nightmarish appeal. Languid and sexy. The horror is intelligently insinuated, not blatantly splayed out. Michael Randolph's Salvation is a very witty satire. The cadence keeps the reader alert through out and the humor contrasting with the nightmarish images portrayed by the writer's rich descriptive style makes the piece very entertaining and thought provoking. Some shorts stood out as well. Milk Shake by Andrew Freudenberg-- this one you'll have to read. But not for the faint of heart. This tops serial cruelty against humans. What can I say, this is a horror anthology and this one sure delivers. Michael Randolph's Justice-- the opening line already catches your attention. A slightly elevated type of horror reminiscent of the Twilight Zone. The author puts you in the middle of the story as if you are watching a movie. Kerri G.S. Lipp's Misery-- a rich mix of heart break, gore and more heart break. The horror in here hits close to home for some.

I enjoyed the book...good stories. However there were misspellings and typos and that somehow detracts from the book. I notice this wherever I go so I guess it is my curse!

Fun for the price

I bought this for the story by Tony Wilson, "Mr. Snuffles Doesn't Like You Very Much." It's a great little story that reminds me of some of the very best "big" suspense and/or horror authors I've read. I recommend this collection for this story alone.

Unmasking Happily Ever After

When you pick up a novel from the romance section, you pretty much think you know what you're going to get. A couple meets, they fall in love, they face an obstacle (or two, or three) and after some nail-biting occurrences, misunderstandings and relatively minor mishaps, they overcome the obstacle and live happily ever after. I had no reason to believe that The Love Sessions would deviate too much from that tried and true formula, and I was prepared for it. Even though you know where you're going, it's always great to see how different authors get you there and the people they introduce you to along the way. And for me, great romance novels have another couple of components--they should make you the reader actually doubt that it can or will end up with an HEA (happily ever after); and they should bear some semblance of a relationship to something that could happen in real life. I am not a fan of fairytales.

So with that background about my own biases, let me tell you what I thought about The Love Sessions. This novel opened with an introduction to a very appealing male protagonist, Nathan. He's in the Poconos supporting his sister and family as they hold a relationship retreat for couples about to get married. Nathan is himself not on the market, because he's more concerned about his vocation in life than about women. But then he meets Keri, who though she is at the retreat with her fiancée, is aware that all is not well with their relationship. With the backdrop of Nathan and Keri's developing attraction for each other, we learn about three other couples, whose stories are told during the various sessions at the retreat, and whose journeys represent the tests that couples endure to each of their marital vows. The author very cleverly titles the various sections of her novel after the vows we're all familiar with.

It was around this time that the story broke away from Nathan and Keri for a spell that I realized that The Love Sessions is no run-of-the-mill romance. In fact, I'm not sure it should even be classified as such. The journey of these couples was riveting, emotional and gritty. The challenges they faced were not your average romance novel fodder. They were real-life, grown-folks problems; the kinds of problems that can easily make or break relationships and shatter lives. The exchanges between the couples were difficult to read at times, and occasionally felt voyeuristic, like I was peeking into people's private business that I had no right to know about. I hesitate to discuss at length the nature of the challenges these couples faced because every single one would be a spoiler. Just read it for yourself!

What I will say, is that at the end of the day, there were no fairytales for most of these couples, but this is not to say that their endings weren't happy. What stood out for me was that this author took the risk of having her stories end, but with the implication (which I LOVE in a book) that these characters go on with their lives--for good or for ill--even after she'd written her last page.

After finishing The Love Sessions, I had to ponder for a few days how to write this review and what I wanted to say. I think if I were to say one thing (okay, two things) it would be this: The Love Sessions is not about romance, it is about unmasking happily ever after and forcing us to think about what lies beyond those words. It is also about how marriage is often not the conclusion of a story but the beginning of one. Those two things I LOVED about this book. But because the author seems savvy and aware of her audience, there's a sweet, feel-good fairytale romance in there as well. A little sweet to help the bitter go down more easily.

I give The Love Sessions 4.5 stars for one reason only. While I liked that these couples had such layered and complex issues and that the issues were some that real people can relate to, I did feel that any one couple or even two couples could have made for a more rich exploration of the themes in the book and of the characters themselves. I felt that I could have been more attached to them as people had there been fewer of them to get to know. But I freely admit that that's a personal preference. I like to go deeper rather than wider when I read a book. So I would have preferred fewer couples if that meant going deeper. Having said that though, in The Love Sessions, Tia Kelly managed to do both deep and wide, and I highly recommend this book. It's not your average romance novel.

Loved it!!!

I really enjoyed the three prequels to this novel but I absolutely LOVED this novel. You get to catch up with the three couples from, Loves Rebound, Give Me You and Save Me From You. The only thing I can say about this novel is that it is REAL. We all assume that couples from our favorite books live happily ever after but what happens when this thing we call LIFE happens? In Love Sessions we revisit the three couples and see what life has dealt them and watch them work through it. We also meet a new couple, Nathan and Keri. I would have loved to have gotten a little more of their story though. I know there has to be more books to come from this series because there is still some people you need to find love. Great job Tia Kelly. I look forward to the next book.

Tia Kelly was a new author to me. I kept seeing her books pop up on my Amazon page so I finally gave in and purchased all four of her books. The first three were short stories that I wished were longer. When I started reading The Love Sessions it tied up the loose ends from the previous books. This book is about seriously understanding your wedding vows. Knowing that your mate will be there through thick and then. It showed that sometimes to get back on track you may need the help of others and there is nothing wrong with seeking help if it strengthens your marriage. I am a new fan of Ms Kelly. Awaiting your next book.

It also answers the most fundamental questions of why something rather than nothing exists, and why what exists is what exists. About the Author
Edgar L. Owen was born April 1st, 1941 and quickly realized that reality is not as it first appears to be. A child prodigy, he entered the University of Tulsa at 15 and received a B.S. with honors in science and mathematics with a minor in philosophy at age 18 before completing several more years of graduate study in physics and philosophy. In the early 60’s he moved to the Haight-Ashbury in San Francisco where he hung out with notables from the Beat Generation, and conducted an intense personal study of the nature of mind and consciousness. From there he traveled to Japan where he lived for three years studying Zen and Buddhist philosophy and subsisting as a Ronin English teacher. Upon returning to the US he began a career in computer science writing numerous programs in artificial intelligence, simulations, graphics and cellular automata while designing and managing advanced computer systems for the New York Federal Reserve Bank and AT&T. He then left the corporate world to start his own software business marketing his CAD programs which he ran for a number of years. Currently he owns a premier internet gallery of fine Ancient Art and Classical Numismatics. Deeply immersed in nature since childhood, and always considering it the ultimate source of his inspiration and knowledge of reality, he has served as Chairman of his local Environmental Commission and organized several campaigns to protect the local environment and its wildlife. Over the last several years he has worked to combine and organize the results of a lifetime of study of the various aspects of reality into a single coherent theory in this book. He now spends most of his time exploring how the wonderful awesome mystery of the presence of reality can be experienced more fully and deeply and enjoying his existence within it. Edgar currently lives in Northern NJ in a big old house on top of a hill where he communes with nature and enjoys the company of his wild visitors including the occasional human. People of intelligence and education should read this book, and take it seriously.

This book is an extremely important exposition of what we currently know about the nature of reality. Frankly, the book is not for everyone. People of intelligence and education should read it, and take it seriously. For others, it probably won't mean much--see for instance the review by "Gabe", who should probably stick to reviewing razor blades (another of his reviews for Amazon). For me personally, it helped to bring my mind back "up to speed" on these issues, after a number of years of focusing on other issues more in line with my professional training (biology), and neglecting the issues which this book reviews (and explains well).
The author takes us carefully through a number of concepts, building a coherent overview of reality which differs in some important ways from current dogma, but which is based in our current knowledge as revealed by scientific enquiry. Without wishing to steal the author's thunder (or worse, misrepresent his ideas), I will list a few of the interesting and important concepts which are well explained and documented in the book:
1. The universe is actually a continuously self-computing logical structure (as opposed to physical structure, which it is not). Human logic closely parallels the logical structure of the self-computing universe (if it did not, it would not enable us to function effectively within reality). However, human logic is of course far less comprehensive than the reality's logic.
2. There are two kinds of time--P (present) time and clock time. Although we can be in different versions of clock time (e.g., a person (or a clock) traveling near the speed of light returns to earth, where the clocks will show that more time has elapsed on earth than for the traveler), we actually are always in P-time, and can never be in any other moment (P-time is invariant, clock time is not).
3. The universe is a 4-dimensional hyper-sphere, the surface of which is P-time, moving at the speed of light. This is the point in time (the present) where we all exist.
4. From this it follows that time travel is impossible. We are always exactly in P-time.
5. A very important distinction is made between "experience" as we commonly think of it, and what the author calls "xperience" which is the interaction of any observer form within the continuously self-computing reality. In other words, every"thing" xperiences its environment continuously. All things xperience reality--people, dogs, plants, rocks, and molecules. "Experience" is the xperience of a self-aware (i.e., living) form, including its simulation of the xperience (which is generally called consciousness).
6. In chapter IV, Mind and Reality, the author delves into the relationship between reality, as he has described and documented it, and the mind. As a "backslid buddhist", I found this to be a great explanation of what on some level is unfiltered observation (i.e., what meditators call enlightenment). Because this is unfiltered observation, it is also pre-verbal (we generally filter our observations through our language structure), and thus of course difficult to explain in words. Nevertheless, the author does an excellent job here, and this chapter is especially worth the read, for meditators and non-meditators alike.
In summary, if you have found yourself thinking seriously about the nature of reality at times, and are willing to do some mental work, I think you will find that this book is important to you, and you should get it and read it. But you will need to be sure that you have some quiet undisturbed time to do the reading, even if it's only a page or two at a time. This book is not light reading, but it is worthwhile reading, and thought-provoking. You will find yourself thinking about it, testing the ideas in your own mind, and adjusting your understanding of reality to better conform to your own unfiltered observation.

A deep thinker's book for deep thinkers who ponder the nature of their universe

Every page is packed with insights and concepts to ponder. I appreciate the distinction between real time and clock time; this is actually something that I think about often as I go through my daily routine - how seconds count because they change reality. Mr. Owen is a brilliant and deep thinker.

A case study in confirmation bias

On the positive side, you may find this book's material inspirational for fantasy and soft science fiction stories.

On the negative side, it's a compilation of years of confirmation bias. If the ideas in the book had been subjected to criticism and empirical test, the book would not have been written.

On the irrelevant side, the Editorial Review is narcissistic and creepy. I recommend for marketing purposes that whoever can change it do so.
