About the Author
Dr. Donald R. Murphy lives in Cranston, Rhode Island, with his wife and three daughters. A chiropractic physician for over twenty-five years, focusing on primary spine care, it is his deep commitment to foster the best care for patients suffering with low back and spine pain that led him to write his book, Clinical Reasoning in Spine Pain, Volume I: Primary Management of Low Back Disorders. Dr. Murphy is currently the clinical director of the Rhode Island Spine Center. He is also Clinical Assistant Professor at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He has been on the expert panel for several spine care guidelines, and has lectured around the world on numerous topics related to spine disorders. Dr. Murphy has published many articles in several peer-reviewed scientific journals and trade publications. He is also the lead instructor for the postgraduate course in primary spine care given by the Primary Spine Practitioner Network. great book

I have already torn through this book. Dr. Murphy has some great clinical pearls and insight to share within this text. When I first got it, I was a little surprised to find that it was more of a workbook, then a standard textbook. Although it's not reference heavy like most textbooks and doesn't keep listing references for every sentence like most textbooks, he does include recommended readings and peer-reviewed journal articles that are pertinent to the material.

This book was a great read, in my opinion. I found the information to be very insightful and also directly related to actual clinical practice. If you don't want to be bogged down by a reference heavy textbook and instead learn useful skills and applications that you can implement immediately into your practice, I would highly recommend you get this book and read it all the way through. Anyone working with spine pain patients will benefit from reading this book.

I can't wait for the Cervical edition!

Every Spine Doc Needs to Read this Book

Thank you very much for writing your new book, "Primary Management of Low Back Disorders Using the CRISP Protocols,” that I read in one sitting.

I applaud your mission and content. I can only imagine the time, effort, and intellectual curiosity it took to write this masterpiece that every chiropractic and medical school should use.

You’ve answered many questions every conscientious spine practitioner faces in his/her career. I especially like your holistic approach to spine care and causation. I’ve never been comfortable with the singular approach taken by the medical or chiropractic professions.

From my 35 years in the profession, including learning from my own back problems, I think LBD is a combination of pathophysiology and pathoanatomy (the “red herrings” you referred to) that are exacerbated by sitting too much in front of this damn computer.

Congrats, Dr. Murphy, on a book well-written.

Great Book for Spine Care Practitioners.

Don Murphy is a wonderful teacher and author. This book clarifies the current evidence base and packages it into a practical system for the treatment of lumbar spine disorders. A cervical edition is coming out and will complete to program. I highly recommend the book if this is a clinical area for your practice, or you just want to know about spinal disorders.

Mysitc Girl in the City: Kiran is an internationally known spiritual teacher and author. She died of massive spontaneous awakening into her true nature, then eight years later, and at the encouragement of many teachers, including Moni Vangolen, Bentinho Massaro, Thomas Stubbs, Adyashanti, she began to talk and teach. Get this book!

This book is a refreshing take on what it means to be free. I love Kiran's down-to-earth freshness, as she dispels the myths of what spiritual awakening really is. She went through a profound, spontaneous awakening without having done anything "spiritual" beforehand. So she has a light new perspective on the heavy, myth-bound current spiritual culture. She provides practical tools to be the person you've always wished you were - the person you are already in truth, the person who is hiding underneath layers of conditioned pain. Kiran gives you the straight, no-nonsense, but loving truth about your own ability to heal yourself. Do yourself a favor, and get this book now!

Remarkable!

Tools for Sanity by Kiran is truly a remarkable book. It teaches us both to Be and to Do, in a gentle, down-to-earth way. Often in spiritual writings, it seems that being and doing are at odds, that when we take a step to heal our wounds or live our realization, we are manipulating our experience and not open to the full mystery of truth in the moment. Kiran's four tools -- Awareness, Acceptance, Alchemy and Alignment -- give guidance for the vast stillness that is our nature to move, to embody, to live and heal in this chaotic and beautiful world. She doesn't sugar-coat anything, she doesn't glorify spiritual awakening... she tells it straight, with compassion and practical how-to that come from experience deeply felt and humbly received.

Honest Sanity....and the nurturing Soul of Kiran

So grateful for Kiran and the entirety of her simple and profound Message of following your (delicious) YES! In the face of what I perceived as spiritual Authority she suggested that my inner `Yes' (which was actually a `no' to the outer advice ) was every bit as legitimate as any Authority...and to follow that above all else. It saved me from uprooting my house and moving away from my family. Kiran's two minute Sage Advice saved me even MORE agony.
Although Kiran mentions that she is not one to help people `awaken' her Teaching...Tools for Sanity...IS just That. She affords all of us the very benefit of not being tied to a lineage and so is minus the agendas that often are couched within those Teachings. This is free and clear stuff. For ordinary Life. And one that has a sweet awakened sense of Freedom about it.
Indulge yourself in this down-to-earth sweet and easy-to-read book. Truth is simple. And so enjoyable. This is powerful, Feminine Wisdom... a long time in the making. Gratitude to you Dear Kiran.

Waste of money - book is really just a pamphlet

I bought both book 1 & 2. I attended the Landmark Forum and the Advanced Seminar. I was excited to see these books come out thinking that I would get some reading to help me reconnect with some of the insights that I got out of the courses. Unfortunately I was very disappointed. These books are very thin - both on content and in pages. For $9 a book I was expecting more than just a pamphlet.

If the price was $5 then it might be worth it or a $2 kindle book. Otherwise just keep moving and find another book.

Love this little book of insights! My favorite insight inside this book is "Encountering Nothing as a Freedom." I've read it again and again. Highly recommended-and it makes a nice gift, too.

Good adjunct material

This is a good adjunct book to go along with your study guide. this book seems to cover the basics that you'll find not only in the ACE study guide but also the info found in ACSM and NSCA. Not recommended as a replacement for your normal study guides but works as a good assistance book.

I’ll be honest, when I started reading The Recruiting Snitch I didn’t think there was much I could get out of the book. I wasn’t looking for a job. I had been pretty successful in the past at landing pretty good jobs, and was pretty sure that if, or when I needed to do it again I could probably land the job I wanted, where I wanted. After reading Alysse’s book I know I will.

I am here to tell you that you think you are doing things that make you sound, and look good to employers, and recruiters, and you might very well be, but after you read this book you are going to realize you are doing something wrong. At the very least you are going to read a paragraph in this book that makes you stop and say “I could be doing this better.”

With a perspective that few will ever be honest enough to share, Alysse blows the same door off that certain websites, and services claim to make as clear as glass. Save yourself a lot of time, money, and research hunting around for tips and stories on the internet, and just read these 116 pages. You wont be sorry.

The bottom line is we all have room to improve, and Alysse covers the bases from start to finish in such a complete, and thorough manner that regardless of your experience, or success in the past it is nearly impossible not to walk away with a few gems that will set you apart from the crowd.

This book is worth its weight in gold

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average term of employment is less than five years. That means that regardless of who you are, there's a strong chance you will be looking for work in the near future. And when that time comes, you'll find Alysse Metzler's "The Recruiting Snitch" worth its weight in gold. This 111-page book is packed full of practical advice, giving you an insight into the mindset of job recruiters and helping you avoid the pitfalls that can keep you from landing your dream job.

The book begins in Chapter 1 with an overview of the different types of recruiters, what they do, and how they impact your ability to land a job. Simply put, it is the recruiter's job to find talent. So knowing how to grab the recruiter's attention becomes extremely important - and that is what the rest of the book is about.

Rather than basing the book entirely on her own experience, Alysse polled over 100 recruiters across the United States on a variety of job related topics. Their responses routinely supplement her own sage advice.

Chapter 2 addresses the importance of setting proper career goals and the need to be passionate about your job. (Trust me, it's extremely important.)

Chapter 3 addresses the gaps in your employment history. Simply put, if you've got them, it's bad. But Alysse offers practical advice on how to minimize their potentially negative impact.

Chapter 4 is where the curtain really gets pulled back. Alysee shares the "labels" that recruiters assign to each applicant and how those labels impact your success in getting hired. There are several negative labels and only a few positive ones. In reading the descriptions, I had to admit that over the years, I've worn several of the bad labels. But fortunately I now know exactly how to avoid them.

Chapter 5 describes the science and secrets behind a company's job postings.

Chapter 6 addresses the treacherous waters of social media and how to best use it to your advantage.

Chapter 7 goes into great length on how to craft a resume that will grab a recruiters attention.

Chapter 8 goes into the work required to actually land a job. Yes, it takes work to get work and Alysse shows you how to do so effectively.

Chapters 9 and 10 discuss the do's and don'ts of interviewing, including the key questions you're likely to be asked and the answers the interviewer will be looking for. In Alysse's own words, "This is something companies do not want you to figure out. I am literally telling you the questions they are going to ask you. I feel like I'm giving you the answers to a test." Chapters 9 and 10 are worth the price of the book alone.

Chapter 11 gives you insight into the mind of the hiring manager.

Chapter 12 discusses how to properly negotiate a job offer.

Chapter 13 provides real-world advice on what your job prospects will be based on your age, experience and education.

Chapter 14 closes the book with dozens of tips and tricks from Alysse's network of world-class recruiters.

Clocking in at 111 pages, "The Recruiting Snitch" is a fast read. You can get through it in an afternoon. And that's a good thing, because you're likely to come back to it over and over again as you refine your job hunting skills.

Alysse's writing style is casual and conversational. That said, it is also pointed and direct. Alysse does not sugar coat things. If something needs to be said, she comes right out and says it. But the good news is that she always remains positive and has advice on how to navigate the pitfalls that we all so easily make.

If this book cost $35.00, it would be a bargain. At $15.00, it's a steal. Do yourself a favor. Buy this book right now. You can thank me later.

I can guarantee this book will do great things for those who read it

Being a college student looking for internships and jobs at such a crucial point in my life this book has shown me how I can stand out above the rest. This book shows you what goes on behind the curtains of recruiters. When you know what a recruiter is thinking you are able to create your own plan on how to handle these situations. With chapters focusing on events that we will all face in life such as phone interviews, or situations that will be brought up such as Social Media. Ms. Metzler does all of us a favor, by giving us this valuable information. I can guarantee this book will do great things for those who read it. I am currently using the techniques in it and getting positive results. This is a must read by ALL college students, and any job-seeking human being. I had the wonderful opportunity to see Alysse Metzler speak about getting a job, and her book. I have never seen anyone more committed to trying to help people, and with this book she has helped all of those who have read it.

The Aiken Scribblers is a group of local writers in the Aiken, South Carolina, area formed under the auspices of BLS Aiken, LLC. Steve Gordy, owner of BLS Aiken, is a retired industrial trainer who now devotes his time to working as an adjunct instructor at a local technical college and to writing. Steve and most of his fellow contributors are members of the South Carolina Writers' Workshop. The Aiken Scribblers includes both amateur writers and professionals who have received a variety of awards for excellence in writing.

She is an amazing, Godly woman with an important message that she shares through her poetry and the artwork that appears on the pages of Whispers in the Reign. Her life is inspirational. Corriganville: The Definitive True History of the Ray "Crash" Corrigan Movie Ranch by Jerry L. Schneider is a fascinating, exhaustive account of a long forgotten chapter of Hollywood history and folklore. The author had exclusive access to several hundred photographs taken at the 1500 acre ranch during its heyday as a Western movie location and top tourist attraction. Movie stuntman and 'B' star Ray 'Crash' Corrigan not only had the vision to buy the property and develop it, but he also had an eye for very beautiful-looking women whom he frequently married! Sadly Corrigan later sold his ranch to famous comedian Bob Hope. Hope's biggest investment in Corriganville was for several cans of paint that were used to rename it to 'Hope Town'.

About the Author
Judy was born in South Georgia where she grew up playing baseball, reading, and taking piano lessons. To pay for her lessons, she raised chickens and sold eggs to neighbors. She attended Mercer University for two years, and then Baylor University from which she graduated with a BA in German. She received her MA in German literature from The University of Michigan. After teaching German for several years, Judy decided to become a librarian and earned a MA in Library Science at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania. Judy’s life took an exciting turn when she left her teaching job in Pennsylvania to be Head of Library at the Learning Center School of Qatar Foundation. She lived in Qatar for eight years, traveling during every vacation, and enjoying the experience of living in a different culture. Recently, she returned to the United States and lives in Lexington, KY. Judy has two children, Julia and Stephen, two children-in-law, Jim and Erin, and three grandchildren: Kyle, Jon, and Karina.

Interesting page turner, surprising twists

Just finished reading this great book on my new Kindle. I really enjoyed the book, it had great characters, and I really didn't see that surprise ending coming. I will definitely be on the lookout for more work from this new author, I wish I could read another of her books now.

Well written. Is an inspiration for anyone who might consider giving up some of life's goals and dreams. I have to say it is void of erotic love scenes and vulgar language and is quite refreshing to read an interesting book without all of that!

This satirical memoir is based upon real life experiences as they occurred, with all the attendant embarrassments connected therein. Although the story may be real, not all of the characters may be so.. I have taken the liberty of embellishing upon the theme at certain times to accommodate the story, for satirical reasons, yet sadly enough much of the story is all too real. The characters in this memoir are mostly real, however, I have altered their names when it was in their best interest, or merely used their first name, so they know who they are. I have also used real names of certain photographers whom continue their long held friendship with me, or who’s photographic work merits use of their real names, which I noted in the story. My story begins when I was nine, dreaming about the environs of a very special tree house, and the unknown magic of shared innocence unfolding behind those hallowed walls. This, was but the beginning of a lifelong search for deeper meanings to things, and how funny that is upon hindsight. There is always an interesting twist to every story of growing up. Some childhoods have a few more twists than others and that tends to make them good fodder for ridicule, or satirical memoirs. The story in this book is mine, and I make no apologies for having fun with it. This story is about starting out clueless in life and the interesting things people will do with you when you let them, or encourage it. Fortunately, being clueless isn’t fatal. Unfortunately, it takes a lifetime to figure it out. The story includes life as a single parent, and Little Mother with the Iron Fist, to party life in Phoenix, riding motorcycles and learning the perfect Marlon Brando dismount. In the spirit of humorous tales, I believe this story will please.

About the Author
Grant Handgis was born in Marietta, Georgia, in 1948. The front of the baby-boom curve, the last to realize it. The author grew up as an Air Force brat, realizing ever new and exciting locations and cultures, which assisted directly in shaping the author's interesting sense of humor. His first publication came at age twelve when one of his anecdotes was published in Boy's Life. After a tour of duty in the military he married and had children. Then a divorce and a life as a single parent, which makes extremely rich material for books. After a thirty year career in photography, which happened to be the author's vocation, he is currently entertaining his avocation of writing. The author has completed six books. More books are on the way.

Author Grant Handgis provides a spontaneous and utterly entertaining autobiography that is sure to delight.

Grant's wild, rambunctious and very funny autobiography begins at age 9 in the 4th grade, and sweet "Cynthia" is his first love. From there, things move along at a rapid, unpredictable and often hilarious pace. Grant's story is a constant reminder that the combination of honesty and humor are guaranteed to entertain. Who ever said an author can't be funny and wise? There is a kind of Zen wisdom found throughout this autobiography.

I share with this author the fact that we are both Vietnam Veterans: He served in our beloved Marine Corps; I served as a Navy officer in the Medical Service Corps -- attached to the 1st Marine Division. So this autobiography describes some heartfelt and heart-wrenching events as well as plenty of belly laughs.

Along the way, the reader will meet some unforgettable characters, like "Harry." Of course, the most interesting character of all is the author!

I highly recommend buying and reading this most entertaining book.

Witty and Poignant

I’m a recent fan of memoirs, impressed by the novelists’ courage to invite strangers into their inner world, their ability to discern the hidden pearls from the humdrum of ordinary life. In I Have Mine…Show Me Yours, Grant Handgis takes the reader on a beautifully written journey, starting with the wonder years of figuring life out, the navigation of family and friendship, the dazzle of first wheels, and awkwardness of young love. Though Handgis has written between the lines of painful experiences that propelled him into the broader perspective of adulthood—a stint in Nam, a failed marriage, and the temporary loss of his children—the narrative bounds with humor and honest reflection on a state of cluelessness that is both relatable and rather endearing.

The middle third of the memoir covers the figurative and literal “road trip” of sudden bachelorhood when his ex-wife absconds with the “short ones.” Just as abruptly, the “short ones” return and Handgis offers the reader a poignant and comical perspective on the trials and rewards of single parenthood including culinary disasters, a feline face-off, dating hurdles, and a dose of teenage angst regarding their father’s apparent lack of coolness. The final part of the narrative details his foray into entrepreneurship; the enthusiasm, inspiration and ongoing naiveté, the wounds (not all self-inflicted) as ventures end, the colorful characters, and friendships found and lost. The very end rambles a bit but not enough to dampen my zeal. I look forward to reading the continuation of his story in his next novel, Waking up Naked.

I loved this book and I love the way Grant writes. You can tell from the memories he calls and how he describes them what a deep thoughtful person he is. I'll bet he is a great guy to know. I recommend this book for great summer reading.
