Topical, not very credible

I was disappointed in this book as I was really looking for a book which discussed this very topic. First, I do not think that Amazon should publish a book whose author cannot be found online - no information about his education or experience to write about this topic. An author should be willing to stand behind his/her research and presentation. The author claims to be an historian, and not politically motivated, but gives no documentation of this scholarship. Thus skepticism raised a small flag early on, and later information strained credibility. Second, the editing or "publishing" was poorly done: footnotes are often in the middle of pages, sometimes run into the text resulting in quite a disconnect. Horrific events are described, straining credibility, again with minimal documentation by obscure hard to find references. The latter fourth of the book deteriorated into a sophomoric attempt of psychological analysis of Muhammud. I will look for another source to learn this information - this is not the one.

Great book

Everyone should read this book. I don't know what the other reviewer is talking about. He/she must be a Muslim and didn't like the exposure. This book is a real eye-opener for those of us whose knowledge of Islam is totally random. It tells the whole story of how it all started and it's not a long book, about 70 pages. It was a good read. Amazing stuff. I feel like I know now what I needed to know, what everybody should know. I am very glad I read it. If the author used a pen-name, I can understand why.
