Well written! Worth the read!

I thought this book was a well written book. I felt that some of circumstances represented real life as I have known people personally who made similar decisions. There are times, I totally sympathized with the main character and other times I questioned her behavior. In some circumstances, I felt judgmental towards her. However, by the end of the book I was happy she finally found herself and what was right for her. There are days I am happy with my own decisions and other times I wonder what I am doing and why I made certain choices. Again, I felt it was very realistic and represents everyday life and choices accurately. I recommend this book to other readers. -Jenny G.

This is a story that brings the reader into a believable world filled with imperfect 3-dimensional characters. A major driver of the story is the conflict between following your own heart versus bending to accommodate others. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read about the down to earth troubles of an everyday family.

Robert G. Davis, 33° G.C., is a fellow of the Scottish Rite Research Society and author of Understanding Manhood in America. He is well known in the areas of Masonic research and renewal and has received numerous honors in Masonic excellence and knowledge. He is a Past Master of three Oklahoma Lodges and serves on the steering committee of the Masonic Information Center of the United States.

Davis's book was an incredible run through history. Written primarily for those who are Masons, it describes how Masonic ritual was developed, how it changed, and why it is different from state to state.

A Most Inportant Book

This is one of the most important books to be written about Freemasonry in many years. Robert Davis is very well known in the Masonic community as a scholar, speaker, visionary and leader. In this book he turns his attention to the past, to pin down the elusive history of the Masonic ritual---no easy task for words which traditionally were not written down. I had the pleasure of reading the original draft of this book many years ago, and it is a great joy to see it finally available to the public. The research is excellent, and the writing invites you to join a voyage of discovery which reaches through space and time. It is rewarding in every way, and belongs in the library of every Mason and everyone interested in Freemasonry. Jim Tresner

Essential for understanding the history of our Work

There are several aspects of this book by Ill. Bro. Davis that are praiseworthy. The research is meticulous and the conclusions drawn are consistent and logical. The explanations offered in regard to historical events impacting the ritual's development are clear and presume no particular prior knowledge of Masonic history. The tone is conversational and inviting. The work presents the best of academic rigor in material without descending into the excessive dryness and ponderous style of the academic. This work is written very much in its author's voice -- which makes it very clear that he loves the subject and believes it to be worth serious study. Best of all, this work is original in both its presentation and its conclusion, making a genuine contribution to Masonic scholarship.

As someone who has been responsible for candidate education for a lodge, I believe I will often be relying on this book to help me answer the questions candidates ask as they begin their Masonic journey. I believe that a greater understanding of the development of the Work will assist me in better assisting candidates in finding the meaning and beauty in their own experience. I know that my understanding of Masonic ritual has been greatly enhanced through reading this.

And I am delighted that it is available in a Kindle edition so that I can have it with me at all candidate education sessions and search the text for that part that I most need when the question arises.

Is it inspiration or a sales pitch to sign up for expensive training?

I found the book inspirational and a good reminder to be mindful of my negative thinking. However through out the book there are a dozen examples of people's success is tied to additional courses and services e.g, "graduates of the CWI Master Series" A $5000 program. I discovered the book was self published by Bush Street Press who touts a "bestseller in a weekend program to establish credibility, get more exposure, attract more clients and make more profits".

Very Inspiring

I was lucky enough to have this book gifted to me. It was a recommended reading for a project that I was involved with. At first, I really did not want to read the book. After I started to read the book, I could not put it down. This book has definitely made a change in the way I look at and handle work. This book has definitely help me to redefine my career and aim it in the direction that I want it to go.

I had the pleasure of meeting the authors at my company's Career Development Day and they are truly wonderful people. I got the chance to thank them at the event and I just want to take the time to thank them again.

I bought this book on the recommendation of a trusted advisor. At first I thought it was just another, "be in the moment" sort of 'new agey' self help book. However there was more to it. There were some really interesting ideas that take into consideration the many changes in the work environment verses the way we might have been brought up and conditioned to think about work. Some really good creative ideas.

As you will learn, there are many questions on the LSAT where extreme language is actually desirable. By learning how to recognize exactly what each question is asking, you will learn what kind of language is appropriate for the answer. Practical Inspiration for Entrepreneurs looking for Balance!

A heart strong perspective that can assists in most every aspect of life.

This is an easy to understand life philosophy that can help you create the life desired if you wish to do "right things." This book is a great starting point to make decisions to create positive actions in your life, and it is done in a surprisingly easy to understand way. Of course doing the right thing is not always easy, but "The Next Right Thing" makes this concept understood and assists in its application, while leaving you, the reader, able to adjust these concepts to your own life, no matter the path which you choose to tread. This is one of those reads that can truly make a difference in your life, and without overwhelming it. Highly recommended for everyone.

What an amazing piece of work, I have literally added the words "doing the next right thing" into my daily vocabulary. It is a reminder of how important it is to create balance in your life and an easy read at that, this book will be on my to do list to read at least every 6 months to serve as my own reminder. I have ordered several copies and am very excited to hand them out as heart felt gifts.

About the Author

Karen Fazio, MSG, began her career as a holistic health practitioner focusing on management of stress, grief, and chronic illness. She became a certified holistic life coach in 2006.

While caring for her ill parents, Fazio saw firsthand the many gaps in aging services, which motivated her to purchase a home-care and assistance franchise and further her education. She earned an undergraduate degree in human services, with an emphasis on gerontology, and a master of science degree in gerontology from California State University, Fullerton. She now teaches stress management in the university’s health science department.

Fazio also serves as an aging services consultant and educator for the Council on Aging, and she presents seminars to corporate employees taking on the care of elderly parents.

When not working, she enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as outdoor activities such as kayaking, hiking, and running.

A must read for family caregivers

In her book, educator and gerontologist Karen Fazio describes how this process evolves and the practical and spiritual tools caregivers need to stay strong for themselves and loved ones. The way she combines her professional expertise with honest descriptions of her relationships with her parents is particularly enlightening and useful. The Bible tells us exactly which city will be the capital city of the Antichrist in the last days, it tells us the city that will promote the Antichrist's worship to the rest of the world, and the city in which the Antichrist will institute the greatest persecution of all time.

That city is Jerusalem.

The city of Mystery Babylon will be Jerusalem when it embraces the Antichrist as if he was their long awaited Messiah. The reason that she is referred to as a “harlot” is the same reason she was referred to as a harlot hundreds of times in scripture, because she is committing spiritual adultery.

“How is the faithful city become an harlot! - Isaiah 1:21a Consider just a few similarities between Mystery Babylon and Jerusalem:

1.) Mystery Babylon is said to kill the prophets in Revelation 18:24. Yet the only city that has ever been recorded as killing the prophets is Jerusalem: “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets…” – Matthew 23:37

2.) The Bible says that Mystery Babylon will be held accountable for ALL the righteous blood shed on the earth.

Yet Jesus said the exact same thing about Jerusalem: “That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth…” - Mat 23:35a

This is just scratching the surface.

In the last days the Antichrist will seek to convince the Jews that their Messiah has finally come, he will seek to make them, and the rest of the world think that the kingdom age has begun.

This is the only view of Mystery Babylon that can withstand a meticulous verse by verse examination.

Must Read - No Matter What Your Viewpoint Is

I watch and read everything that Chris White produces on the subject of Bible prophecy. He always presents a thorough case of his prophecy interpretation. This is one of two books that radically changed what I thought I knew on a biblical subject.
The author does not twist scripture to his own end, but simply follows where it leads. At that point it is up to the reader to determine whether to accept the conclusion, or create their own.
You're not going to hear mystical theories of Planet X, or new age mysticism, only what scripture plainly states. You owe it to yourself to read and digest this teaching. Test it and all the scripture presented in order to strengthen your own belief. You may not accept this interpretation regarding Mystery Babylon, but you will certainly be better for having read it. You will only be exposed to what the Bible says. Not what someone says the Bible says about the subject matter. The author even presents arguments against his own theories. He presents the the most rock solid scriptural evidence and clearly states where details of his interpretation do not have as much evidence. Very few modern prophecy authors have the courage to face even the slightest scrutiny of their work. We all have a bias that shades what we see and hear.

Well thought out treatise

Over the years I have followed Chris White's work through his many podcasts. I have found him to be a humble radio personality, admitting when he is wrong and disagreeing with others gently, while still firmly defending his belief in the Christian faith without compromise. Although I subscribe to many podcasts, Mr. White's Bible Prophecy Talk and Nowhere To Run are favorites due to his delivery and insight.

The premise of this book was presented on the Bible Prophecy Talk podcast some time ago. When we consider the area of prophecy it's important to take into consideration there are no easy answers. We are speculating on future events using the lense of scripture to help us focus. Chris' claims concerning the coming Antichrist, including where he may come from, are unique. While others such as Dave Hunt and Chuck Missler have taken on this area, Chris offers a unique view that pulls from the work of other scholars, but mostly from his own thorough study of scripture.

I had been waiting on this book for some time, and purchased as soon as it was available. Chris White has done his research, and while many will disagree with him, it's hard to find fault with his scholarship. We won't know all the details of how end times events turn out until they occur, but Mystery Babylon is an honest, well thought out attempt to connect the dots in language average Joe Christian will be able to understand. Well done, Chris!

A breath of fresh air in the Bible Prophecy field

The subject of Mystery Babylon is one which has garnered many interpretations over the years. Because Bible prophecy has been of interest to me for over 40 years, I've probably heard most of those interpretations. What caught my eye when reading the intro text for this book was the statement, "In counting the characteristics given to Mystery Babylon in Revelation 17 and 18, I have found over ninety distinct qualities given to it by Scripture." Most of the other authors I've read who have addressed this subject pick at most a handful of characteristics and then apply their interpretation of the meaning to those few characteristics.

I'm a firm believer in letting Scripture interpret Scripture, meaning a careful correlation of the facts (not interpretations) as presented by the Bible will inevitably lead to a singular truth for a given subject of study. Mr. White's approach to the subject through systematic study and correlation of all the relevant scripture passages was one that intrigued and resonated with me.

If Bible prophecy is an interest of yours, you won't be disappointed in this book unless you're one who takes a strictly allegorical view of scripture. Mr. White follows the trail like a good detective and finds where it leads without letting his own preconceived notions color his analysis. I especially like his admission that he has held other views on this subject in the past, yet was willing to give those up when confronted by the evidence from Scripture.

All in all, it's an excellent analysis of a subject that really needed the clarity Mr. White has provided. I look forward to more by this author.

Almost Laughable

This book is absolutely dreadful. I should have trusted my instincts with the credibility of this trash when I immediately noticed on the cover that they don't use a photo of the real house...not even the original "movie" house...they used the one from the terrible remake. Strike one. Upon opening the book and reading it, I was appalled at the numerous spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors. Clearly there was no editor, and this was a self published book. NO respectable publishing house would have touched this. As far as the extensive research...well, I guess reading someone else's work and then using it to write your own book can be called "researching," but all I see is where the "author" cites other sources. Lazy "researching" at its best. LOL

Money wasted.

The horror is that I paid for this.

Aside from all the spelling and grammar errors, this book doesn't contain much if anything we didn't already know or have seen. Early in the book it is mentioned the High Hopes sign in the yard from Mr. Defeo is still there to this day. Did the author ever go to the house of look at photos from the last 20 years? If you can't get something like that right how are we supposed to take much of this book serious. I do enjoy the photo's because there is a few I had no seen but they don't offer anything we didn't already know. Save your money this isn't worth the cyberspace data it was transmitted on.

A Must Read for Art, Society, Hudson Valley and Antique Lovers - and Murder Mystery fans to boot!

Thank you, Glenda Ruby! Death at Olana is a gripping murder mystery set in the beautiful Hudson River Valley. Glenda Ruby also brings us into the glamorous locales of New York City, including some of the best restaurants and lounges for those in the know! Glenda has a direct approach to describing the leading characters, hence a reader can feel as if he is living in the novel. I must say that I was very impressed with the intertwining of art history and unveiling of the often-overlooked high society circles of the bucolic Hudson River Valley, an area with far more rich nuances than the overexposed Hamptons. I suspect that this book will further boost the popularity of Olana, one of our nation's greatest treasures. After reading this book, I don't think that I will ever go to a dinner party again without having something intelligent to say about my favorite painting, book, movie or play! Glenda raises the bar for all of us, and helps bring back a great old-fashioned intelligent but easy to read murder mystery. I can't wait to read about Bard!

So Close to Home

I loved Death at Olana. Ms. Ruby describes the Hudson Valley beautifully and presents its history accurately. Olana is a magnificent tribute to its creator. She weaves the tale of mystery and murder well. I was riveted to its unfolding. The revelation of the crime and its reasons were sad. I didn't expect at see the old prejudices so alive. Yet, I shouldn't have been surprised. The area is holds its memories close as its trees do their roots. People continue to be castigated for crimes they did not commit but lent a deep shadow in the minds of others. Many who love the Hudson Valley will enjoy the reminiscences and others who know little about this beautiful river and valley will learn of its importance in art and history. Definitely a good read to read again.
