Sadie Townsend is known by all as The Ice Princess and she’s worked hard to earn her reputation. Her father, a now-incarcerated Drug Lord, has kept her under his thumb her whole life, and she’s learned enough from living in his world to give everyone the cold shoulder. But one inebriated night, she shows Hector the Real Sadie, and he knows he’ll stop at nothing to have her. Hector Chavez makes one (huge) mistake: he waits for Sadie to come to him. Tragedy strikes, and Sadie’s got a choice. She can retreat behind her Ice Fortress, or she can embrace the Rock Chick/Hot Bunch World. Guided by Hector, the Rock Chicks, the Hot Bunch and her new gay roommates, Buddy and Ralphie, Sadie negotiates a life out from under her father’s thumb. A life that includes poison, arson and learning how to make s’mores.

About the Author
Kristen Ashley grew up in Indiana, but has lived in Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least), but loopy is good when you want to write. Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched). Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up. And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

A more serious Rock Chick
By Nils
After reading all but one of the Rock Chick's I'll admit I was getting a little tired of the formula. Girl in trouble bumbles into town, boy latches onto her and won't let go, girl fights attraction, eventually, after several madcap adventures, girl submits to boy and awesomeness ensues. The more characters that this series collects, the more ridiculous it gets. There is over-the-top surveillance, oversharing, just over-everything in this series.
Until Sadie. Sadie's troubles were more tragic and serious than the rest of the Rock Chicks, I think I can say that without qualifiers. And Hector fit the formula of "woman, grunt, mine" just like the others, BUT he was so awsome helping her through her trauma that I can pretty much forgive anything. And Sadie herself is no slouch. Unlike some of the other Rock Chicks, whose self-esteem issues can get kind of old, Sadie is one tough cookie, through and through.
Don't get me wrong - if you are in the mood for light and madcap, this is your series. But don't start with this book. Read at least the first two (the best, IMO, until this one) because knowing the characters will give a much richer feel to this book.
If you are in the mood for this series to get a tad darker and richer, this IS your book. If you want to see a survivor who faces life on her terms, with a little help from her friends, this is your book. I commend KA for her commitment to her characters and her daring to go much deeper. Her characters, as it turns out, can handle it.

Love me some Hector!
By MsBaba4
My favorite "quote" - it made me go all aww[...]
"Sadie?"
"What?"
"You with me?"
I blinked in confusion and said, "Yes." And I was, wasn't I? I was standing in his arms for goodness sake.
"This is Sadie?" Hector went on.
I blinked again. "Yes."
"My Sadie?" he kept at it.
This time I blinked for a different reason.
His Sadie? Was there a Hector's Sadie? Was I Hector's Sadie? Did Hector think I was his Sadie?
Oh...my...God.
Before I could process what he said or get close to processing what that meant, I watched him smile, then he bent his head and kissed my lips.
"Yeah," he said, his face an inch away. "It's my Sadie."
4.5 stars.
Sadie Townsend is the daughter of a drug lord and by association scum of the earth. Hector Chavez is a former DEA Agent. He brought Sadie's father and his whole empire down. Sadie has an appointment at Lee Nightingale's office because she doesn't feel safe and she needs a bodyguard. Even though her father is imprisoned, the crime doesn't go away. There's a war to see who will be the new king and the Balducci brothers mean trouble (trouble with a capital T). Unfortunately, Lee "can't" help her and later on something very evil happens to Sadie. I was so sorry and hurt for Sadie! This was an incredibly intense part of Rock Chick Regret and absolutely outstanding!
Hector aka Double H (it stands for Hispanic Hottie) is smart, sharp, and loyal. He's a gorgeous and bossy alpha male, yet there is something incredibly gentle and tender about this guy. Wow, Hector's got sexy and very warm eyes. Every time his gaze went warm my belly did a flip! Hector is totally Dee-licious!
The Pretend Sadie is scared that Hector could find out what lies beneath her façade. She pretends to be The Ice Princess but she is someone else. It's a defense mechanism and being The Ice Princess is helping her to cope after she lost her mom when she was a kid. Furthermore, it helps her to deal with her drug lord father. Hector vows to pull the real Sadie out, and he became really good at ignoring Sadie's Chill Factor Sub-Zero Glares!
Until Sadie met Hector, the Rock Chicks and their men she didn't have any friends of her own. She did not have fun and her life was pretty empty and without kindness. She has never learned to truly trust someone. Sadie didn't know how to deal with Hector either. I know that Sadie had a right to act the way she did but honestly, it was quite exhausting at times! Even Hector said that she was a pain in the a**. Oh, Sadie, clue in, mamita!
I loved the endearment mamita. I instantly adored it. It's so sweet and Sadie needed all the gentleness she could get from Hector. As always the cast of secondary characters is great and every character is wonderfully fleshed out! I especially loved the two gay guys Ralphie and Buddy. They were sweet, funny, and very kind. The whole bunch of Rock Chicks are their own brand of trouble - um, good and hilarious trouble, of course! Rock Chick Regret mainly revolves around the developing relationship between H/h, even though there is some action intertwined into the story. The whole story is embraced by a serious undertone then again, you'll find enough well-placed humor too. The first half of the book was fabulous! But the second half lost a little bit of its sparkle and lost a tad of its pace as well. Don't get me wrong, it was very good but I just hoped for another fabulous half. Yes, such darn expectations. Always.
If you're a Kristen Ashley addict then I highly recommend you to read Rock Chick Regret! It's another great, engaging and sometimes very intense and painful story.

Some good parts, some very frustrating parts...
By Reader
I have mixed feeling about this story so I will break down what I liked and didn't like.
What I liked: From the very beginning the book has your attention. The reader immediately becomes emotionally invested in the characters of the story. There is no long drawn out set up as to what is going to happen. There does come a point to where you ask yourself how many times can a person be kidnapped in a couple of weeks but the story develops well. In addition, I liked both the H and the h. The h was stronger than the average KA h and the H, although failed to be there for the h in the beginning of the book, did everything possible to protect the h later on. I also loved the gay couple in the book. LOVED them!
What I didn't like: There were a few things that I didn't like. I really dislike how KA's h always let major betrayals go so easily and this one is by far one of the biggest I have read in her book. ***some spoiler***The h asks the H's boss (Lee) for protection from his agency while the H was in the office. Lee refused her protection knowing that she had very dangerous people after her. During this exchange the H never speaks up. This results in the h being severely beaten and raped. Yet she forgives Lee right away and doesn't even bring it up to the H at all as a betrayal. Another thing that bothered me was already mentioned by another reviewer, the intense situations are merely touched on, not explored in depth. The way in which the H treated the h before the story began is only touched upon briefly. The H never apologizes, the h inner monologue concerns are never explored and the h again let's this go even though it was something that really hurt her. It surprises me that an author that is as talented in story telling refrains from using the power of words in making amends. This h was stronger than the average KA h but still not strong enough to bring up anything to the H or stand up to him. As with many other of KA's stories the H doesn't have to apologize or really do anything for the h to forget a transgression, no matter how big. But it is worse in this story because things were not even brought up by the h! I would have loved to see this h calling the H out on his behavior in his dismissal of her, his insult to her, his behavior during the exchange before the start of the book, how witchy the Rock Chic were to the h and they were all now expecting her to be BFF, etc. She doesn't call him or any character out on anything. There is a part where I finally felt like some of it would be addressd by the H and the readers get a paragraph from the H and an ok from the h and nothing else. Very frustrating. Lastly, I hated how other characters were shoved down my throat. I get it, it is part of a series! It was really annoying how meddlesome these characters came off because they were inserted in to the story so often. It seemed like these girls had nothing better going on in their lives than to meddle and gossip. What was even more maddening was that everyone was told that the h was raped. It bothered me to no end that people who she didn't even know where brining up her raped to her after a "nice to meet you." I found that completely insensitive and disrespectful. What gave them the right to do that to someone that for the large part of the book were not even friends?
Overall, I thought the story was well done but I was simply too frustrated with so many conversation that should have been had and the h letting go of things so easily.
