About the Author
For over sixty years John Whitcomb has taught courses on Bible prophecy, especially in the Old Testament books of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Zechariah, and Malachi. He has authored two books that deal with prophecy – Daniel (Moody Press) and Esther and the Destiny of Israel (BMH Books) – as well as three prophetic time charts and several CD and DVD albums. For thirty-eight years he served as professor of theology and Old Testament at Grace Theological Seminary. An honors graduate of Princeton University (B.A., 1948) and Grace Theological Seminary (B.D., Th.M., Th.D.), he now serves as an ordained elder in the Conservative Grace Brethren Churches International and as president of Whitcomb Ministries.

About the Author
Ann Olson is a doctor of psychology, an erstwhile visual artist and a frequent writer of creative, poetic and academic material. She received her BA from the University of Washington, her MA from Pepperdine University, and her doctoral degree from Alliant International University. She lives in a quirky, small apartment near the Tower District in Fresno, California. This area of Fresno is culturally diverse and gathers to itself creative individuals, including musicians, artists and writers. She taught introductory psychology at the State Center Community College District for several years. She has also worked in the mental health field to a great extent over the years of her adulthood, including jobs at a variety of hospitals, group homes and centers, dedicated to the service of the mentally ill and developmentally challenged populations. Her work has included positions as a qualified mental health professional, a counselor and a therapist, a psychology intern, a doctor of psychology and a post-doctoral fellow in several work-related capacities. Ann has exhibited her visual artwork in certain venues in the area of Fresno's Tower District. Her writings, including poetry, essays and short stories, have been published in several zines including The Barbaric Yawp, based in New York, and Seattle's Chrysanthemum. Perhaps, most notably, her work has been published on Valley Public Radio's program, Valley Writers Read. You can read some of her academic work on the website, Brain Blogger. The complexity of schizophrenia in poetry

Ann Olson surpassed my expectations by making it simple to understand the complexity of schizophrenia through significant and signifying poetry that touches the reader while clarifies the uncommon mind with subtleties by a poet and scientific insights by a scientist that not only has empathy for the schizophrenic but also knows it better.

In a way that every reader can graspDr. Olson explains the symtoms and the stigma of those who have uncommon minds using her own biography and experiences .

I recommend this book to all people that in a way or another love people for what they are, no matter for their common and uncommon ways of feeling and being, but simply because all people are special in their own way and important pieces of the humankind puzzle.

She did Illuminate schizophrenia

First of all, I would like to commend Dr. Olson for her courage in presenting her pathological life to us in an insightful and understandable fashion. One can tell us how it feels to have a mental illness better than an educated victim. It is clearly valuable for health professionals and lay persons alike. Most importantly it is excellent for the sufferer and those close to them for all the insight it presents.

Interesting, well-organized, and magical! Something for all ages and abilities. This book is a must for any teacher, child-care provider, home-school mom, or student. The themes are amazingly kid-friendly and there's something for every skill range. My favorite tie-ins: the cooking section, the book section, and special days section, that the author designed for each themed area. A truly beautiful book!

I love all the different themed party ideas. Definitely a great way to have fun. There are lots of ideas for making a simple or all out party. She has ways of incorporating the childrens projects into the parties which is great. All of her themes have everything you need for your projects. You don't need anything but this book. Highly recommend it.

First and foremost, my goal in writing Phoenix Republic is to tell a story that feels real and credible; to pierce the reality-bias that affects us all.  Our familiar world is rapidly changing.  Not unlike the titanic cultural shift affecting England following World War One, the underpinnings of our daily lives have reached a breaking point that may well lead to a fundamental shift in life as we live it today.  Phoenix Republic depicts a scenario average people can identify with.  If Americans at least consider what they see happening around them every day the endeavor will be a success.

Like many Americans, I pretty much believed that for the most part the men and women we elected to represent us in Washington DC, to one degree or another, believed in freedom and in the greatness of America.  Over the last couple of decades that belief has eroded.
The truth is, I was ignorant.  I've now come to the conclusion that there is a political and cultural elite in this country.  These people, I believe, are convinced that they know better what is good for America than the rest of us; and are more than willing to impose their world view upon the country using any means necessary.

Although fictionalized for the novel, much of the action taking place in the background of Phoenix Republic comes from the news.  Danielle worked with local city leaders, a former state senator, a Middle East expert from the University of Texas at Arlington, as well as several police officers, in an effort to make a political thriller that is exciting and feels real.Phoenix Republic tells a story that depicts what it might feel like for an average person to face overwhelming odds following an economic collapse.  Although the story contains true-to-life action and life-or-death situations, it also has gripping emotional content that will appeal to men and women alike.

Fast-paced story with strong female characters

Phoenix Republic isn't your typical thriller. It's written from the perspective of three very strong female characters who find themselves in a world they never would have thought possible. Their strength and perseverance protects them and binds them to one another. I like the Libertarian viewpoint but this is more than just a political commentary; it's one particular outcome of a series of scenarios that, for some reason, don't seem very fictional at all. I found myself saying, "Oh my God," a lot during the reading of this book.
The author managed to take me on a roller coaster ride of sorts by seeing the world through three different pairs of eyes. It would be interesting to me to find out which character each reader identifies most with from the story. I, personally, aligned myself with Megan, the middle daughter. Sorry, no spoilers here.
I'd like to see the movie version of this story. It would be sort of a mashup of Modern Family, Argo, The Bourne Identity, The West Wing, and a steamy romance novel. Be sure to have someone you love nearby after reading the love scenes.
This book is for anyone who likes political thriller stories or those who like plausible fictional scenarios.
I loved it. I hope I don't have to wait too long for her next book.

Fantastic read!

This is a fiction story that could very well become nonfiction. And how devastating that would be! If there comes a day where there is on a global scale, or even just here in America, a collapse in the economy, what will you do to survive? The book made me realize just how prepared we must be to protect our families, friends and neighbors!
The author made me see the evils of socialism, the political elite, and too much government overreach. An eye-opener for sure. Author Danielle Wedgeworth spins thriller, a little romance, drama, action, and the importance of family sticking together into one spine-tingling tale.
The book grabbed my attention from the first page. A must read. For me, this book was an eye opener.
Hope to see this on the big screen.

This is a book that shows a worst case scenario under the current big government direction. It's about a total collapse of the economic system following a policy of printing money and promising unsustainable guaranteed entitlements. The main premise is how one family including three daughters that have chosen very different paths in life cope with the new world.

About the Author
Léopold Lambert (born in 1985) is a French architect who successively lived in Paris, Hong Kong, and Mumbai and currently resides in New York. His approach to architecture consists in a delicate articulation between theoretical research and a frank enthusiasm for design. Such an articulation has been explicated in his book Weaponized Architecture: The Impossibility of Innocence (dpr-barcelona, 2012), which attempts to examine the characteristics that make architecture an inherent political weapon through global research as well as an architectural project specific to the Israeli civil and military occupation of the West Bank. He is also the author of the graphic novel, Lost in the Line. He finds his architectural inspiration from films, novels, and political philosophy books, rather than in architectural theory texts. He is currently collaborating with Madeline Gins for her Reversible Destiny Foundation (created with the late Arakawa) whose philosophical and architectural work is highly influential upon the role of architecture in relation to the human body.

Only As A Companion Book - Not The Best Read

I would only recommend this book to someone who watches Tastytrade programming. It's more of a collection of pointers presented during Tastytrade's programs.

It reads like someone took notes while watching Tastytrade programs like Market Measures and Tasty Bites and then published their notebook. For example, the stand-alone sentence on page 3, "You can still create time decay while buying a debit spread." No context, no explanation. Just a statement. I was also disappointed by the chapter on pot odds.

It will serve as a useful reference for frequent Tastytrade viewers but do not use this book by itself as a means to learn or develop trading strategies.

For those not familier with Tastytrade, it's the best option out there for learning options trading, and it's free. Their methodology for those who are learning to trade options or with small account balances (under $25K) is simple:

1 - Sell $1-wide option spreads on stocks with
a) a price between $15 and $50 (stocks above $50 typically don't have dollar-increment strikes in their options chain)
b) a Current IV Percentile above 50 (also called IV Rank, you can find this stat on the ThinkorSwim or their dough platform)
and the options should be
c) penny-increment options for liquidity
d) around 45 days to expiration to "give yourself time to be right" (meaning if a trade goes bad it will have time to turn around)
e) have about a 70% probability of expiring out-of-the-money (another stat available on the ThinkorSwim and dough platforms)

2 - Manage winners, not losers, meaning if you get a decent profit (50% to 75% of max profit) take it off but give losers time to turn around.

3 - Above all else, TRADE SMALL (single-contract spreads on dollar-wide strikes for the first couple years) so your losing trades don't lose you that much and TRADE OFTEN so the higher number of occurrences gets the "law of large numbers" theory to work in your favor (have a lot of trades on at any given time as your account balance allows, while not having more than half your account value at risk at any given time). Your long-run odds of success are much better if you routinely risk $70 on each of ten trades than $700 on one trade.

For example, you sell $1-wide spreads that expire in 45 days collecting 30 cents ($30) which gives you 70 cents ($70) of risk on each trade. With a $2,000 account you can have $1,000/$70 or 14 trades on at a time. When your "P/L Open" (profit since opening the trade) is up $20 to $25 close the position (the old saying "a bird in the hand...") and go on to the next trade.

Book that wasn't proofread prior to printing?

There are some good ideas in the book, but I found it very painful to read due to all of the grammatical and spelling errors. Would be much more enjoyable if it didn't look like it was written as a first draft by an 8th grader.

The book mostly talks about options trading strategies, so I would recommend Trading Options Greeks: How Time, Volatility, and Other Pricing Factors Drive Profits by Dan Passarelli instead of this one.

Best Options Book Ever

I don't think I am normally prone to hyperbole, but this is the best options book I have ever read. I bought Book 2 first, and have been so impressed that I went back and bought Book 1. From the unreadable to the unusable, every kind of options book exists out there in the libraries, bookstores and websites of the world. Most are junk. This is the first one that actually gives you strategies, methods, tips, and insights on what to do from your first trade to a full portfolio. Understand that the material is not about conventional options thinking -- there is nothing about buying, only selling options. And some can get a little complicated. But spend a little time with Tom Sosnoff and Tony Battisita at tastytrade.com, and you will see why. IMHO these guys are the best, widely-known traders on the planet (with John Carter at Simpleroptions.com) and Tony Rihan captures all their very best thinking. Read and you will never trade options the same way again.

Yes, I loved the book (and read it in one sitting), and, no, I do not know any of these people nor have any connection with them -- other than loving to trade.

About the Author
Anita E Larsson lives in the south of Sweden with her husband and two young children. “A Letter from the Other Side” is her first published book, but she has written stories her whole life. Anita was inspired to write the book after visiting a riding camp for physically disabled children and teenagers with her son. Her son, Markus, is diagnosed with cerebral palsy and inspired the character Max in the story. The inspiration for the location of “A Letter from the Other Side” came from her own home town of Mora, Sweden, the town for which Mora, Minnesota was named.

Has promise

Disclaimer: I was given a free copy of this book in return for a review.

As the title suggests, this novel has promise. The author is from Sweden and the story is stilted in places, possibly due to the translation to English. I did enjoy the overall idea of the story but think it would have been much better if the author had set it in her native land rather than Montana. We've all read hundreds or even thousands of books set in the U.S. but I can't ever remember reading one set in Sweden.

It is clear the author has personal knowledge of the hardships of looking after a child with a disability and that part of her story was very well done and captured my attention. If it was edited by a professional translator, I think this could become a far better story. There wasn't an obvious abundance of mistakes and typos, which was a plus.

Author shows a lot of promise

I was given a free copy for an honest review.

I enjoyed Anita Larsson's debut novel. In many areas I could see in her writing a passion and a deep understanding of caring for someone with a disability. The difficulties and equally the love shine through, and overall the plot is a good one, the characters are ones you can identify with.

As stated above, this author shows a lot of promise and I'll be keeping an eye out for anything new by her.

Tortured by the truth, Charlie must swallow his moral indignation and use the judge’s connections to solve the case while trying to save the diamonds, his girl, his police contacts, his detective business, and maybe his own sanity.

About the Author
Charles A. Turek was born in Chicago and grew up in that area. He went to public schools and holds a graduate degree from the University of Illinois. Charles began writing in the 1970s and is the author of five novels including the Charlie Komensky detective crime series. He lives in New Mexico with his wife, Rose, and is an avid railroad fan.

A good noir plenty of atmosphere

At the beginning it seems a little slow, in the early chapters in particular, there are many extended descriptions of surroundings and characters and just a little action.
For me it was ok, because I think that is how a real detective works: at the beginning it takes some patience to work through a case.
After a while the plot become very intricate.
So it took some pages to become really absorbing but after that it turned into a page-turner.
I became really involved and I liked how everything drew together in the end.
Charles Turek uses a quite descriptive writing, typical of a good noir.
Accurate and keen descriptions made this novel rich in atmosphere.
I think in a noir the atmosphere is all.
Also characters are designed and described so that you feel you know them, but as in any good noir novel, nobody is what they seem or means what they say.
I like Charlie, the protagonist, because bad guys seem to be always a few steps ahead of him but he is able to adapt to all situations.
Sometimes the dialogue is abrupt and there are so many twists and turns that it can be hard to keep track of the many characters and of all the events.
But if you enjoy detective story and crime story this is for you.

The Steam Locomotive Murders (a Charlie Komensky Mystery) by Charles A. Turek is a fun, mystery. I received a free copy of the e-book to review. The detective tends to be drawn to all things train related and the mystery revolves around bodies found in the firebox of trains. Charlie stumbles into a murder case while dragging his fiancé on a train-based vacation. They are supposed to ride an historic stream driven train, but a body is discovered and Charlie sees a way to make a buck. Charlie is not the greatest of detectives, nor is he the best at getting along with his fiancé. She leaves him to return to Chicago and he follows the case through a series of adventures. Charlie manages to investigate the case without getting killed (not for want of trying) and does solve the case.

The book reads well and keeps the reader's attention; however, the more critical mystery readers may find the solution a bit contrived. I am going to reread it and see if the pieces actually make sense in the solution. As I said at the start, it is a fun book and I recommend it for light entertainment. I liked the quirky characters and their interactions. The glossary of railroad terms at the end of the book is a nice feature.
