The Issue is Life: A Lawmaker's Perspective from Decades of Fighting for the sanctity of Life, by John Grant

The abortion debate has divided our country more than any issue since slavery. The unborn are the most helpless in our society and John Grant has a passion to save the lives of the hopeless and helpless for whom no one speaks. Senator Grant is an esteemed attorney and lawmaker who served in the battlefield of political life for twenty-one years. As part of a legislative body, he learned how to fight the battle, and this book gleans from that powerful experience. The battleground is no less volatile today in the courts and legislative chambers across the land. Roe v. Wade has forever changed our society. It created a new industry and a changed mindset. While the decision created certain rights for those outside the womb, it took away rights for millions still in womb. The real issue is life and what we believe about it in all facets. It is a culture war between good and evil. This insightful book is written to expose the truth and give a better understanding of how to engage in dialogue, especially with those in political office. Where truth is known, the persuasion for protection and rights of the unborn becomes clear and unambiguous.

Review of the book The Issue Is Life
By Dr. Paul Enns
You have written The Issue Is Life, a very, very important and significant book. You begin with an account of how you and Beverley kept your baby. Great story! Throughout you have a strong, pro-life stance--no matter what the person's situation is--you affirm they must take a pro-life position. It is helpful that you trace the history of beginning of abortions in America, yet, Americans believed life was sacred. You describe abortion for what it is--homicide and you also show the moral fallout because people practice abortion--immorality is the result.

You provide a strong, biblical foundation beginning with Psalm 139 and many other related passages. That makes the issue of life biblically strong. You also show the development of the baby in the weeks of growth--which should make every mother want to keep the baby. The Tim Tebow story is great!

You have an important comparison of abortions with the holocaust. You are so right--we condemn the holocaust (and we should) but future generations will condemn this generation for a similar issue--taking the lives of the innocent.

Your discussion of "choice" and "tolerance" is important--those are key topics today.

You conclude with "What can you do?" which is important for people to think about. Yes, the issue is life. Thankfully the Republican Platform statement is clear on this and the encouraging thing is that you show "we are winning."

Great writing, John. The Issue Is Life is a vitally important book for this generation. This is a MUST read for everyone.

A "Must Read!"
By gcssite
In the mid1970's I could have spoken up and stopped an abortion. I took the easy way out and stayed silent. My failure of character has haunted me since and, often, when I consider my two wonderful adult sons, I think of "What should have been."

John Grant's book should be required reading for anyone considering abortion. He writes insights that will bring tears to your eyes regarding the reality of abortion and those touched by abortion. It is also a great read for Believers to strengthen our reasons for our pro-life stand.

Men need to read this book! Thanks, Senator Grant, for writing it!
