Brilliant, refreshingly easy to understand, powerful relief from loneliness.

Dr. Narang has clearly done a thorough review of the scientific literature on interpersonal relationships and attachment theory and he has masterfully integrated the information with experience taken from clinical psychology and Buddhism to create a wonderful book that can help people who are struggling in any of their relationships. The explanations in this book are straightforward and the exercises are easy to understand, though they demand thoughtfulness to carry out. 'What makes me strong' and 'Locating beauty' are two of my favorites and exemplify the positive, hopeful theme of this book. There are so many exercises and so much information, but it is well organized and easy to access. I have already started integrating the material into treatment plans for several of my clients. This is helpful for people who struggle to establish and maintain meaningful relationships and also for people who just wish to give and receive at a higher, more satisfying level. The true brilliance of the book is that it is helpful to experienced professionals but also to readers with no specialized knowledge. This isn't a condescending tome with unrealistic or unattainable goals. This is self-reflection done right, designed to help you take a hard look at what makes you lonely and then do something about it.

A must have book

This book is cutting edge because it is the first time that someone has tried to explain attachment styles in plain English. This is not an easy task to do because of the complexity of attachment. Dr. Narang helps you explore your attachment style through exercises in an easy-to-use workbook format. When you understand your attachment style, he walks you through exercises and activities that help you to find more meaningful relationships. His examples "hits home" in terms of adding meaningfulness when you are reading the book and going through the exercises.

Excellent, Well Thought Out, and very Useful

Dr Narang does an excellent job in breaking down the three main attachment styles, helping you figure out which attachment styles apply to you, and then giving you specific exercise to help you become more involved/open with people (if you are avoidant), and/or more secure and resilient (if you are anxiously attached/enmeshed). He puts his finger on important dynamics that can effect all of our relationships, AND gives excellent concrete steps on how to change those dynamics. This is an excellent workbook!
