Interesting, honest, yet eloquent

This is a fun book. I was first drawn to it because the author has two forms of amnesia, I picked it out because of the content. The writer tells her story, of losing her memory and visual memory, yet never paints herself as a victim or feels sorry for herself. Instead, she paints small stories of her life, in vivid candor that invites you to join her as she goes on bad dates, lives her life, and thrives despite her conditions. She is reflective and positive, yet entertaining. I found myself thinking this would be someone I'd love to be friends with. Her writing style is that of a friend sharing a funny story that could happen to any of us.

Unlikely Memories and Two Amnesias

I found this book to be SO engaging, I actually spent two Sunday afternoons NOT watching my favorite football team, the Denver Broncos! Written with such insight, humor and candor, I found myself not wanting to stop reading. I highly recommend this book to anyone who teaches or works with children. If you've experienced your own 'medical situations', are close to those who have, or are simply interested in learning more about them, this book is a beautiful peek into their lives. It's about so much more than amnesia, but rather maintaining a positive outlook on life no matter what comes your way. Thanks Holly, I LOVED it!

I unexpectedly really liked it...

A dear friend recommended this to me.
I read the paperback.
I wasn't sure through the first part what I thought of it, but curiosity kept me reading.
Well, I've finished it with good feelings about it. I love the way Holly's brain works.
She kept a smile on my face for quite awhile.
I felt I truly got a glimpse of what it might be like having the visual amnesia through her eyes.
Thanks for that journey.
I was intrigued that she traveled abroad so much having this condition.
Having done a bit of that myself without that disability, hats off to her.
Teaching for 20 years floors me as well. I have many teachers of challenging students in my inner circle of friends and family... I'm not sure how she did it.
Definitely I'm recommending this book to others.
