Loved it... and I'm a dude...

Excellent storytelling and even better writing... I was nervous going into it that I might be turned off on some of the religious aspects of the book. Not that I don't believe, but just not practicing.
So I was so pleasantly surprised to take the ride with Trish... to find something... And what we get to experience along the way is that sometimes we don't even know what we're looking for... and then we find it!

Good read, good payoff

This book is a well-written story and an enjoyable read, full of wit that is grounded in Trish Ryan's ability to share genuine reflections of her journey. She is self-deprecating, but not too much so that you don't realize that she is also a smart, strong woman who now realizes there were lessons in her mistakes. There were times when I wished she'd been driven by something greater than just the need to find a husband, but I had to remind myself that she was just telling her story as it really happened-not trying to be a heroine necessarily. And I found her honesty about this motivation refreshing. While her story is about her drive to become a wife and the mishaps that happened along the way, it ultimately paid off for me when she built a relationship with Jesus that led her life to better things generally-a better group of friends, a better ability to make decisions about her life, more personal confidence. I found this to be greater lesson in the story.
I'm not certain I believe enough in divine intervention that I agree that all the good things that happened in her life were the result of God's hand. Still, her experience has made me consider how important it may be to build a relationship with Jesus through prayer and seek the bible for wisdom-two things I'll be doing more of in the future, thanks to this book. We all need guidance from somewhere, but many of us can't figure out where to get it. This book shows one success story for having found, finally, that guidance.

A well timed, encouraging read

I picked this book up while I was travelling alone in Vancouver, just looking for something to pass the time while I ate my weight in bagels on Granville Island. I find that every so often a book will come into my life that turns out to be exactly what I needed to read at exactly that moment in time. I'm so grateful to report that this was one of those times.
There was so much I could relate to in regards to Trish's approach to faith and her search for a husband as a Christian woman in her 30's. I feel like there aren't a lot of books that deal with this subject, and it was so refreshing to finally hear somebody else's story. It gave me hope and encouragement at a time when I had stopped letting myself imagine that there might be a light at the end of the tunnel.
