Book 2 in the Savannah Martin mystery series When Savannah Martin’s fellow Realtor and friend Lila Vaughn is robbed during an open house, Savannah rushes to the rescue with tea and sympathy, or at least a really good lunch and a shoulder to cry on. However, Lila seems more peeved than distraught, and her main gripe is that the sexy robber who tied her to a kitchen chair—for her own good—didn’t follow her suggestion to tie her to the bed instead. Lila’s description of the man fits Savannah’s old school-mate Rafael Collier to a T. Rafe has recently turned up in Savannah’s life again, and he isn’t above doing a little breaking and entering. Metro Nashville Homicide Detective Tamara Grimaldi is of the same opinion, and when Lila turns up dead, tied to her bed and strangled, Rafe becomes a suspect. Now Savannah must get busy finding the real murderer before Detective Grimaldi can arrest the wrong man.

Mystery, chemistry, and a bit of unsavory Southern history make for a compelling read
By Dana Brantley-Sieders
I only thought I was hooked after Book 1.
Book 2 ups the ante (not to mention the body count) for struggling real estate agent and amateur sleuth Savannah Martin. Once more, a murder within her circle of realtors puts Savannah on the hunt for the killer, and her unlikely ally and much denied object of affection Rafe Collier as prime suspect numero uno.
Bad timing, since she seems on the verge of (finally!) making her first sale.
Though she may argue this point from time to time, Jenna works in a good bit of depth through her compelling characters. Savannah and Sweetwater society's hangups regarding Rafe's background speak volumes in terms of race/class structures within the South. It may be cleverly disguised in Savannah's over-the-top simpering and Mama issues, but it still shines through. Savannah is a 'nice girl' Southern Belle who is forbidden (by family, small town convention, and her own ingrained prejudice) to associate with a poor, mixed race man from the Bog - no matter his charisma, raw sex appeal, and her ease in his company. For example, one conversation in which Rafe sets joking aside and tells Savannah that 'he can't change who and what he is' regardless of her/Mama's problems with it, and Savannah's sorry for more than she can admit - that's deep.
That she is able to question these prejudices, acknowledge how ugly they are, and work through them makes Savannah a wonderful, three dimensional character. Rafe seems to take these conventions for granted, as he has experienced them his entire life as LaDonna Collier's 'good for nothing colored boy.' He uses easy humor and flirtation as a defense with Savannah's prejudices and cold, silent contempt in the face of the those doled out by the police and Sweetwater society. He is a criminal to be sure, but Savannah (and we readers) sense that there is more to him beneath the surface.
Perhaps Savannah will make more progress in uncovering the mystery behind Rafael Collier as the series progresses. Here's hoping as I snag a copy of Book 3.

Phenomenal Romantic Tension with a Mystery twist ending
By Kourtney Heintz
Hot Property is the second book in Jenna Bennett's Savannah Martin mystery series.
Here are my top three reasons to read this book:
1) The chemistry between Savannah and Rafe is off the charts and had me squealing at 1 am.
2) Ms. Bennett makes you feel like you are wandering the streets of Nashville with Savannah. This woman writes good setting.
3) Mystery is one of Ms. Bennett's strengths. I wasn't sure how this one would shake out until the heart-stopping end.
Maybe it's because I went to Killer Nashville in 2009, but I loved how she brought the city to life on the page with just the right level of detail.
Ms. Bennett does a phenomenal job merging the romance and mystery genre here.
Rafe Collier and Savannah Martin smolder the pages. I'm surprised I don't have burns on my fingertips. Seriously, fantastic chemistry and tension. I would sit through 200 pages of them just having dinner. Because they are that amazing to read.
There are elements of suspense as well that keep you turning those last 100 pages faster than a microwave can explode chicken.
If you love a good mystery and enjoy a dangerous flirtation that could break into a killer love scene at any moment, this is a book for you.
I'm looking forward to cracking open the third book in the Savannah Martin series. Or rather swiping the page on my Ipad.

Drangged ........Out!
By Shoe777
I really enjoyed the first book. I even enjoyed this book so I guess I'm realy rating the series. I wish I had known it was going to take 5 books for them to get together and I would never have started the series. Usually if a series is several books long it covers Several romances. I'm done after book 2 and very disappointed.
