The Fragrance of Poetry

As she states in her poem "Gnosis," Sarah Williams writes "poetry in the diminishing eclipse/ of an Eden that no longer exists." Perhaps Eden does no longer exist; this world is full of chaos, lost peace, lost love and shows no signs of getting them back. But there is a voice that never leaves, and has "the fragrance.../ cuts sharp as a blade." It is the voice of Sarah Williams...she may be a mix of modern and classical but she has a voice all her own.
There is strength in her poetry that can knock us over like a tornadic breeze but there is beauty that can mesmerize for hours on end as we read through her work.
This poet with her keen eye absorbs all that is around her, and then her pen releases all that she has taken in. She says "A thicket I see, a flash of skin" and we see flashes of that skin as we read through these pages and as readers we "taste of the earth."
As in her poem "Celestial Bodies...Rising" we find ourselves rising in the richness of her words, whether she is speaking of nature, celestial beauty or love.
Her unique voice will always leave us wanting the next poem and the next poem and the next.
I highly recommend this collection of poems to anyone who is a serious reader of the genre, and I feel that other poets can learn and be inspired by the form, the style and the deep content of her work.

Amazing, Mesmerizing and Beautiful

I received my copy of "The Other Side of Up," Sarah S. Williams' collection of selected poems and all I can say is, if it wasn't for a need to sleep last night, I would have not put this delightful book down. Having read Sarah's work in the past I was excited to hear she was publishing her first book and I could not be more thrilled to now own a copy of it. Sarah is a true artist; she possesses a unique ability to present her thoughts and visions in a way that bring the reader deep into her world, and what a fantastic world it is. From the heart grabbing "I shall be a tapestry at your feet" to the peaceful easy feeling of "Sunflowers," Sarah paints images on these page that will amaze all who read. For fans of poetry, this is a must book to have, for those who only dabble in it, this will open your eyes to things you have never before seen, and for those who do not read poetry, pick up this book and you will be hooked. Sarah Williams is one of the finest poets I have ever read and I can only hope this is just the beginning of a wonderful future for her. I am a huge fan and I recommend "The Other Side of Up" without hesitation.
