Heartwarming and Realistic

I read this book over the weekend and absolutely adored it! I will admit when I got 3 chapters in I was slightly confused because it seemed as though the book was going backwards in time. It was then that I realized this book does tell the story in reverse, which is totally unconventional and completely works for this story. This is one of those books that makes you feel good after reading it. There was no serious drama or unrealistic events that make you roll your eyes and say really.
It is a story that starts out with a woman in her mid thirties telling her story in reverse about how she met her husband and the obstacles they overcame to get to where they are today. Ms. Pullos uses significant events in their lives to shape each chapter. I especially liked the chapter from Adam's point of view at the end. The chemistry between Adam and Chloe is very sweet and made me fall in love with them instantly. This story is heartwarming and I like how they are complete opposites but completely make it work; they support each other in ways that normal people in healthy relationships support each other. This book had me hooked and I had to find out how they began their lives together. This is a great story to read after reading something heavy and drama filled. I highly recommend it as this year's perfect beach read.

Sweet book

I really liked this book. I happened upon this book by accident, and I am glad I did. The author is a fantastic story teller.
The only negative was the arrangement for me. I actually read the story in reverse and liked it better.
I believe Ashley Pullo will be an author to look out for in the future!

Simply Beautiful.

I am a huge fan of romance novels and read a lot of them and this story was probably one of the most quietly beautiful love stories I have read in a long time. First of all, props to Pullo for writing a story about a hoser like Chloe. You hardly ever see Canadians in books now a days.
Secondly, the love story between Chloe and Adam is written in such a incredibly original way. What could have been a simple love story is turned into beautiful storytelling. Chloe is flawed but strong, not one of those boring, perfect types that can do no wrong.
And finally, the hero, Adam Ford, is an original, swoony, and most of all INTERESTING character. He olives Chloe with all that he is. He is interesting and mysterious on his own, but is - in a sense - made whole by Chloe.
The Ballad is both realistic but still a fairytale and a must read for people who love good romance and good storytelling.
