About the Author
Polly Dement grew up in Vicksburg, Mississippi, graduating from Millsaps College. For the Senate Watergate Committee, she wrote profiles of the witnesses who testified, and for over a decade beginning in 1981 told in a variety of publications stories of the investors and entrepreneurs of the National Association of Investment Companies. She also worked for the National Commission on Children and Hager Sharp, Inc., a communications firm in Washington, DC.
Jesse L. White, Jr., is a research professor in the Department of City and Regional Planning at the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill, where he was director of the Office of Economic and Business Development (2004–2011). He served as co-chairman of the Appalachian Regional Commission (1993–2002) and led the Southern Growth Policies Board (1982–1990).

Great book!

GREAT BOOK!....My daughter is doing her 5th grade state report on Mississippi because my dad was born there and she wanted to know more about this state. My Uncle Johnnie is featured in this book and I thought how great that she could include this as apart of her report. Her uncle is apart of the Mississippi state she is writing about! Great book.....with lots of information. How great that an author can have so much love about the local business owners and turn it into a beautiful book. Well done! And GREAT JOB Uncle Johnnie!!!
