About the Author
Peggy D. Snyder, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist with over 35 years of clinical experience working with psychotherapy clients. She has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, families, adults, and couples. Dr. Snyder worked as a staff psychologist at Prairie View Hospital and Mental Health Center in Newton Kansas from 1977 until 1980. She served as consultant to the District Court in Harvey and McPherson Counties in Kansas. In 1980, she relocated to San Diego where she opened a private practice. In her private practice, Dr. Snyder continued to work with clients of all ages. Her preferred clinical orientation has been Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with a specialty in Clinical Hypnosis Dr. Snyder retired from practice in 2012 which allows her more time to pursue her passion of writing. Ballroom dancing and travel are among her many leisure activities.

Well worth the time to read and practice ......

I had the opportunity to read the book prior to its publication and to try the exercises for myself. There are a lot of self improvement books out there and so many of them will "promise you the moon".
This one sensibly tells you that you can improve your life in a meaningful way (if you follow the author's instructions). Is it true or just more hype? I can only tell you from my own experience. It is true that the techniques are simple. It is also true that it can make a noticeable difference. But don't expect a change if you don't put the effort into it. In the beginning, realistically it's going to take more than ten minutes, but not much more. But I found that each day the time required to write the statements lessened. When I was more specific in my writings, that seemed to help too. I've only been at it for a relatively short time, but if my past progress is any indication of the future, then I'll stick with it.
Dr. Snyder's words have a strong of ring of authenticity to me. Apparently she knows her subject well.

You won't believe how easy this technique is!

San Diego, California author Peggy D. Snyder, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist with over 35 years of clinical experience, both as a staff psychologist and court consultant as well as a private practitioner specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with a specialty in Clinical Hypnosis. Since retiring in 2012 she has been embracing her gifts as a playwright and novelist and here she takes a moment to share her concept of her splendid concept THE TEN MINUTE COGNITIVE WORKOUT - a book that should find a very wide audience as it is the answer so many of us have been seeking as a way to regulate our mood, manage stress and attain our goals in this chaotic and confusing and challenging world we have created.
The book is brief as is the message, but the impact is meaningful - and lasting. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy includes the concept that what we think directly affects how we feel, that our thoughts govern our emotions, and if we change our thoughts, we can change our emotions and our behavior.
Given that principle Dr. Snyder suggests we take ten minutes out of every day and write down twelve positive thoughts that address specific emotional states and real situations in our lives. Write them daily, meditate and turn negative responses into positive outcomes. Of course she explains this more thoroughly and offers excellent support to her idea, offering example statements form which to start. But to learn this well means to read this very important book. Try it for a few days and see the results. Our worldview changes because of the positive turn we administer to our thought process. In just 10 minutes a day! Highly recommended. Wonderful relationship tool!

My husband and I found the Ten Minute Cognitive Workout an easy read, well thought out and thorough. My husband and I practiced the exercises and techniques individually then we aspired to take it another step by performing the exercises and techniques together. It's been very surprising to us how much we were in sync with our statements, in other words we both wanted the same things but it went unsaid. We've been married for almost 41 years, with the help of Peggy Snyder's Ten Minute Cognitive Workout we found a way to reconnect in our thoughts and feelings and to be more supportive and positive with each other.
