About the Author
As a novice English/drama teacher I encouraged my students to read, write, listen, and then talk. As an earlier storyteller of my adventures to my dolls at our daily tea parties, I chose to use different voices and tell of exciting far off places I had only visited in books. Those early behaviors inspired me to perform first-person narratives today. I was privileged, for thirty years, to offer my teaching gifts and talents to the children of Columbus city schools and other Ohio schools as a teacher, principal, and supervisor. I acted in several community plays and church productions. After retirement, I started earnestly seeking first-person narrative opportunities and found them with a friend, Annette Jefferson. She was already performing, and she took me under her wing. I researched and developed the script for Phillis Wheatley: Finding Her Voice. Since then I have developed three other characters and have material to start researching three more.
