The GO TO BOOK on Puppy Training.

I've had dogs around all of my life and raised quite a few puppies myself, this book is a great book on the art of raising a well mannered pooch. I highly recommend it for newbie dog trainer and the experienced. There are loads of step by step instructions of how and when to do the training properly in a positive way to keep the dog's temperament in line. Even check off lists and charts to remind you of what step you are on during the process.
In my experience, many bad habits a puppy displays are mostly learned from it's owner, i.e. jumping up on a person with it's front paws can be cute as a puppy, but once your Shepard is full grown it's not so cute anymore. The authors explain not only the "how to do" but also the "why" you need to teach it, which brings about a greater understanding of the long term training and benefits.

I wish I could have had a book like this when I got a puppy in the past and I didn't know how to train it. It just gives you the necessary steps in training a puppy and make them social and well behaved pets. Great source of information.

Raising a Puppy - Excellent Training Book!

Great book! I certainly wish I had this book earlier this year when we got our puppy, but am putting it to good use now. Excellent tips and training instructions - very detailed and easy to follow. I'm no trainer and I can follow it. I've learned some good insight into the mental training as well from this book. The author makes a great presentation, with clear & defined steps to make anyone the "dog whisperer". My puppy (almost full grown now) has already started to respond to these new training techniques - Excellent! There's lots of "heart" in this book. Thanks!
