About the Author
Flavio Mota (“Mota”) is a Chicago Police Officer. Mota taught law (Driving Under the Influence, Search and Seizure--The Fourth Amendment, Crimes Against Property, Crimes Against People, Rules of Admission, and other subjects), for over three years, at The Chicago Police Academy. Additionally, Mota teaches the aforementioned subjects at the university level. Mota has a Bachelor’s degree (in Criminal Science) with Honors and High distinction from The University of Illinois at Chicago. Also, Mota graduated from Chicago Kent College of Law with two law degrees (J.D. and LL.M., an advanced law degree). Mota is a member of the Illinois Bar. (Mota is licensed to practice law in Illinois.) Additionally, Mota has earned a GMBA in Global Leadership from the Thunderbird School of Global Management.

The author has done an excellent job in making the material easy to follow

This book is a really beneficial tool for anyone interested or currently going through any Police Academy to utilize in their training in addition to resources they have been provided with. The author has done an excellent job in making the material easy to follow, allowing the reader to fully understand rules or procedures that may seem unyielding. As a future CPD officer, and having a strong interest in Criminal Justice, I have taken the time to read this book to learn more about the profession, rules and regulations, that our police officers endure while they serve an protect our community. As an eager learner, I really appreciated the review questions at the end of sections to test myself over the material that I read. Overall, this legal book is a great tool to have as a reference, or to "brush-up" on any issue regarding the legal system and police. I strongly encourage that any person with a career in law enforcement, buy this book. I look forward to the next volume of this book!

I would recommend this book to any criminal justice major

I rate this book a 10 plus. I had the pleasure to experience Mr. Mota as a student during the time I was enrolled at the University of Phoenix. Mr. Mota went above the call of duty to assure myself and my team mates understood the assignment and work cohesively. I would recommend this book to any criminal justice major, or to any one is in the police academy to purchase this book. This book should be at universities as well as junior colleges. This book has work book exercises which will refresh your memory because important and detailed parts of this work book is repeated. I learned certain things such as search and seizure where you are not free to leave opposed to consensual whereas you are free to leave. This book is so good everyone in law enforcement should own one. I hope that this book is placed at the Department of Corrections Cook County for potential employees to use as a mandatory requirement for their training manual

Great Tool for FTOs

This book is a great tool for FTOs. It is very useful when trying to overcome misinformation while training. Many recruits come to us with very poor concepts of the spirit of the Fourth Amendment. This book has a good amount of case law pertinent to probable cause/ search and seizure and makes a great reference. It is very suitable for classroom applications as well, especially for scenario based training. It will be nice to see the next volume.
