I’ve led several lives. I started off as a journalist and editor in daily newspapers before migrating into public relations and then non-profit management. I had to get an MBA and run a public relations and marketing business for five years before I could finally admit that my real love is writing. I’m married to the incredible photographic artist KayLynn Deveney, and my time is split between Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Belfast, Northern Ireland. I also really like coffee.

A masterful of wry...

Salinger said it best. "What I like best is a book that’s at least funny once in a while.... What really knocks me out is a book that, when you’re all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn’t happen much, though."
After reading this book, you realize what a terrific friend Will would be. You would want to call him up, have a chat, arrange a visit to a nearby pub or park and discuss worldly and silly things until much too late. These chats would be intense, relaxing, expanding and cover more topics than a roomful of philosophers. And should one or both of you move away, then happen to meet up years later in a completely different location, the conversation would pick up right where you left off.
"This Album Full of Angles" is that conversation.

Irish Gods

This is a totally unique novel starring a man (of sorts) who can toss a car like a bean bag one moment but feel as real as the man next seat over at the pub the next. I took away equal hints of Neil Gaiman's American Gods and Robert McLiam Wilson's Eureka Street. Imaginative, evocative and damned fine writing.

William Reichard's "This Album Full of Angels" has proved to be a unique and enjoyable read.
The story is epic, but its the way its told that is so interesting. The settings shift, but with a rhythm that quickly becomes natural to the reader. I enjoyed the use of the city and the land as a character in itself. In order to better understand the characters and their actions, we are shown the character of the setting, the living, breathing city of Belfast, or the mist covered Irish country side, and even the mechanized heart of the industrial city of Cleavland, OH . Reichard expertly mixes ancient myth and the modern world, in a land where the oral story tradition dates back thousands of years, but is slowly being forgotten, ignored, torn down, or covered up, in exchange for condos, and coffee shops. The settings are struggling to find their place in the modern world as much as the characters.
The characters are compelling, and continue to evolve and reveal themselves throughout the story.
I had to relax my preconceived notions of the modern story arc, and let this book take me where it wanted to, in its mythic fashion, but when I did, I surely enjoyed the ride.
